If memory serves (and it doesn't always) this thread is light and fun MOST of the time, but occasionally dips into serious political discussion, where we tend to disagree, a lot. Certainly I'd prefer this to stay a place to socialize, but I've certainly been guilty in the past of bringing political discussions here. I'll try not to do so in the future.

Well dinner at the inlaws was interesting ... I thought I was running late when I got over there .. turns out I was on time

However, my sister inlaw, BIL, their family and Mike were a tad late getting back from their racing thing

over 2 hours late

I don't think I have ever saw my MIL so ticked off before .. Wow was she hot and let off a rant like you can't believe

I made a few jokes to calm her down and it helped a little .. then I told her when things get stressed .. just drink .. that helped a lot *L*

I was on my best behavior and didn't say a thing .. even when my BIL made a comment about not going down to their lake property this summer

They seem to forget I have small kids and the fact they don't have a house yet .. just a dock and boat.

The worse part was .. Mike blamed it on me .. I could have smacked him

They keep bragging about how beautiful is it and how nice it is to sit on the dock

And I have no doubt it is ... but with three small kids .. and and not a whole lot for them to do .. it's just not going to happen

I went up the mountains once with them and had to spend the week in the house with the kids because my MIL didn't want the girls going outside because there were deer and they could get a tick bite and catch Lyme Disease and they couldn't go fishing because the girls might fall into the lake

Let's just say ... I know she meant well but it was a REALLY long week

Though from time to time, please allow me to bring here some political thoughts which may, or may not, resonate, though out all the posters here.

I think that most of us came over to FR because we kept getting banned from TOS whenever we did not conform our comments to the strict but often subjective rules there. If we are now censoring this thread to eliminate whatever irritates someone then there won't be much left.

Over the years I have enjoyed the comments and photos of some but did not much care for those of others ... but I hope that everyone continues to say what they want to say, when they want to say it. All photos or all jokes or all political comment would very soon wear thin. For anyone who is offended by a particular line of comments, why not just skip over it? There will be plenty of posts left to entertain, enlighten or amuse.

The scroll feature is our friend. I come by the old homestead now and then just to see who is still here and I've never scrolled past your comments ;^) . I still thank you whenever I play my Eartha Kitt CD's, remembering that you led me to the place where I could hear samples before I ordered. I used to get leads to many, many good links and sites from which to buy "stuff".

Good points. I guess it can be a bit of a balance, and knowing when to back off. I haven't been posting much, but it's not because of what anyone here has said. I just don't want this thread to deteriorate into a big food fight. Yes, the scroll bar is our friend, and I've learned to use it!
