It is only socially ungraceful if you do it where people can see you.Pish tosh, man. It's only ungraceful if you are observed by your equals or betters. Picking and dining in front of the servants is expected and settles them rather nicely.

You speak wisdom grasshopper. Would a booger make a sound if it fell in the forest? What is the sound of one booger clapping? Do bears booger in the woods? AND contemplating a booger beats contemplating ones' navel anyday.
The Zen of boogers has not been explored.
