Clarke's Gets A Standing "O" from Peanut Gallery
Mensch

Posted on 03/24/2004 1:25:13 PM PST by Mensch

I wonder if those present at todays 911 hearing who applauded Clarke's admission that his 2001 'background briefing' to the press was "political", realized what they were applauding?

Does it not then follow that his recent celebrity is also political?

I didn't watch the entire hearing today, but what I saw was pathetic. 911 was one of the most shocking events in this nations history and the "The 911 Commission" has turned into a political circus.

It seems many have not learned the lessons of that horrible day.

You may be right. I remember someone posting something from DU saying that Clarke's book would be the end of Bush. LOL. What fools liberals are.

I think Clarke should be nominated for the Darwin award this year.

This fringe group of 9-11 relatives are fast becoming professional vicitims. It is a little bit sickening.

It is a travesty that this has descended into a partisan/political circus. I think it's very important that we take a serious look at what happened/didn't happen and see if we can learn anything from this that will strengten our intelligence gathering and assesments to keep us all safer. This should be an excercise in improvement not a finger-pointing political contest of one upmanship

I'm disgusted

This commission should be disbanded. It is a farce! Bin Laden is just loving life these days. America is headed for the trash can!

I agree 100%. What a waste of taxpayer money. 9/11 happened. It's over. It's not like any President, Democrat or Republican, would willingly allow an American city to get bombed if they knew it was going to happen.

This commission is the equivalent to having a Pearl Harbor commission or a War of 1812 Commission to place blame as to why Pearl Harbor was attacked or why the White House was burned to the ground. It's ridiculous. It happened. It's over. We are vigilant now. We've learned from it. It hopefully won't happen again.

Now that I recall, Dems in congress wanted their OWN committee to investigate 9/11. Bush instead appointed this commission. As bad as this commission is, can you imagine the drama-queen antics of Democrats like Tom Dashle, Patrick Leahy, or Chuckles Shumer on such a congressional panel? And that panel would be meeting through the summer and into the fall. That wouldn't just be a circus -- it would be one complete with the three rings.

can't wait to see what Brit Hume has to say about the attack from the commission about Fox's transcribing Clarke's "background briefing".

This is going to get good.

Brit will be good later. I am just wondering if the lamestream media will pick up on this. Want to bet the Slimes buries this story if they even run with it at all? I bet Dan Blather doesn't even mention it tonight on the Communist Broadcast Network. The left-wing media pisses me off.

I agree, but how do you suggest we educate them? The news media, except for a few standouts (e.g., Fox, talk radio) have shed all pretense of objectivity in this election and are out to destroy the Bush presidency. How do you get the message out when 90% of the media is actively working against you? We've had comments from Condi Rice and Dick Cheney, among others, and the drumbeat continues. Fox reportedly aired a devastating clip this morning of the Dickster contradicting everything he said today at the Commission hearing. Other than Fox, has anyone run the tape?! From the tape it's clear that Andrea Mitchell of NBC was at this 2002 briefing. Has NBC run out to play its own copy of the tape? No.

Let's face it, it will take a quarter of a billion dollar media budget for Bush to get out his message this year, along with a few acts of God, to counteract the mainstream liberal media.

Clark is scum. Fox News just ran tapes from a press breifing which contradicted just about everything he said about the Bush administration........

Anyone have Leslie Stahl's email address so that we can all freep and flood her inbox with critiques, and tell her that the she was doing "malpractice" liberal, one-sided journalistic reporting on 60-minutes. She acted like a first grader when she was "interviewing" and leading snake Clark into answering questions to fit into her agenda. She was soooo pathetic!!!

Pisses me off too. But with the advent of the internet, Fox News, and talk radio, their days are numbered and they know it.

Mark my words, before the decade is up they will either shrivel and die, or be recognized for what they are. Like Pravda.

I have no sympathy for them any more. I'm sorry for those who died, but I can no longer feel any sympathy for these families who have made themselves rich off of the deaths of their loved ones, and then use mass murder to advance a political agenda. They are POS in my book.

I have an idea those were "Peaceful Tomorrows",anti Bush 911 families. The ones who are always interviwed.

One of the people quoted yesterday just happened to be holding one of the wacky Bush conspiracy theory books. Here's some more from these "typical 9/11 families":

Victims' families in the hearing room wore buttons with loved ones' photos. They listened somberly except when they cheered after commissioners urged Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, to change her mind and testify.

In New York, Camille Doyle of Staten Island, whose son, Joey, was killed in the attacks, broke down crying as Rumsfeld read his opening remarks and defended the Bush administration.

"He's reading, he's just reading," Doyle said. "I don't believe him."

Tom Loback of Manhattan, whose nephew, Firefighter Terence McShane, was among the victims, said he was outraged by Rumsfeld's "evasive answers."

"He's squirming like I've never seen him squirm," Loback said.

Yeah, none of these families has an agenda, right?

I have to disagree with you on that one. They already are professional victims -- and the truth is, they started acting like this not very long after September 11th.

You know, I'd like to see them have half the vitriol that they have for Bush focused on the actual terrorists who killed their family members! Talk about "Have You Forgotten" -- Bin Laden and his islamofascists are all but forgotten in the minds of these professional victims.

Most Democrats embrace lies because to embrace the truth would force them to confront their "sin nature."

Man! A truer statement has never been posted here, or anywhere! Don't you sense that this election is less about ideology and is more of a spiritual war? The left have a different world view than we do, and that is the root of their corruption. They live their lives according to a lie about the nature of man, and consequently they accept any lie which substantiates their flawed worldview.

Are these the folks who held out for more money from the federal government as a settlement for their loss?
