Some really simple questions I'm embarrassed I didn't think to ask.

We'd take Mr. Clarke's words more seriously if, as America's lead anti-terror official from 1998 through Mr. Bush's first two years, he had warned someone that al Qaeda might have a strategy to hijack airplanes and fly them into buildings. He already knew that an Egyptian had flown one plane into the drink and that al Qaeda was interested in flight training. Why didn't Mr. Clarke connect those dots?

Mr. Clarke lambastes the White House for seeking links between Iraq and 9/11, even as he himself asserts that he knew in the immediate aftermatch that there were no such links. How could he have known that? WSJ OpEd

Clarke doesn't even make a good Madame Cleo.

I'll be interested in Clarke's answer to this subject which will be asked tomorrow.

Mr. Clarke fails to mention that Abdul Rahman Yasin, the one conspirator from the 1993 WTC bombing still at large, had fled to Iraq and was harbored by Saddam Hussein for years.

And from the predictable file; democrats hang their hat on Clarke hoping to tarnish Bush.

Democrats took to the Senate floor to lambast the Bush White House, which had fiercely condemned Clarke on Monday.

"We are seeing abuses of power that cannot be tolerated. The president needs to put a stop to it right now. We need to get to the truth and the president needs to help us do that," Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota said. link

HLL tells me that he's wears a lip tint and that icky 'I look tan but I'm really dead' look is one of those spray on tans from the salon.

THE Sen. John Kerry team seems more than a mite embarrassed the presidential wannabe cursed out a Secret Service agent as "that son of a bitch" after colliding with him while snowboarding last week. Asked if that's appropriate language, Kerry's spokesman, Michael Meehan, tried to wriggle out of answering on Fox News Channel's "Hannity and Colmes." Quoth Meehan: "I don't know. I wasn't there . . . it's a hypothetical I'm not interested in . . . I wasn't there. Were you?" Nope, but the report of Kerry's trash talk came from the ABC News field producer who was there and appeared in the New York Times (though with the expletive deleted). [PageSix]

------------

I heard this on another radio program yesterday and couldn't believe it. "I wasn't there, were you?" What kind of answer is that? I wasn't at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, either, Mr. Meehan - does that mean it's only hypothetical that something happened?

"I wasn't there, were you?"

"That's none of your business."

Do I detect a trend?

Imus this morning is hedging big time on his endorsement of Kerry....but, of course, that's after the polls have turned and show Bush in the lead.

Do you realize there hasn't been a Bill Clinton sighting for quite a while? I wonder where in the world he might be - in the garage writing his book? Consoling Belinda Stronach over her failed effort to lead Canada's conservative party?

Kerry and his sock puppets are so darn snippy! Shades of Al Gore (or PeeWee Herman - "I know you are, but what am I?").

Good response to the Dem criticisms for Bush's supposed "intelligence failures" regarding Iraq, here.

Supposedly Slick is busily working on his book and working out daily with his German trainer. But you will see plenty of him soon...he and Carter are going to throw a big fundraiser soon for Kerry.

McCain's problem is his monsterous ego, imo.

I didn't get to see yesterday's testimony except for a bit of Maddie Dimbulb's - and she either lied outright or was so out of the loop she didn't know anything.

I'm watching the hearings today - Sandy Burgermeister is just now on. What is it with the Clinton people all looking like they lived at McDonalds? No one ever heard of Jenny Craig?

Oh yeah, he said that several times. He was a smart alec. He also was dressed like a moron - the casual Clinton years came to my mind. The pubbie was in suit and tie. It was too funny.

You gotta get Fox News - complain to your cable carrier.

Our cable carrier is a guy named Basil who runs the whole operation out of his garage, as near as I can tell. I see him around town occasionally. I've already begged him to add TV Food network, but to no avail!

You know what really hacks me off is the continued snide attacks at Condi Rice for allegedly not appearing before this commission by Ben Vinista (or whatever his name is) and that dolt from Indiana (not Lee hamilton, but the younger guy who reminds me of snarling, petulant pekinese) especially since she's already given them 4 hours in private session and especially since 4 of them didn't even bother to show up for those 4 hours of private sessions with her. I hate these sniveling b*st*rds.

Rice isn't showing up for the public part of this due to principle - something the dims on this panel have no way of relating to.

She has no legal obligation to do what the Dems are demanding, but they'll still whine that she's hiding something. There is no such thing as a principled Democrat anymore (and I think Zell Miller would agree with me on that).

The French today found a bomb on a railway.

Rush said the French terror alert level has gone from "RUN!" to "HIDE!"...LOL!

Good one! I don't know if I've mentioned this, but when Mr. M and I visited the "Peace Museum" in Caen in 2002 and saw all the exhibits relating to the Nazi occupation of France in 1940, my single overriding thought was how the French rolled over without so much as a whimper. What a legacy.

I swear. I listened to most of Clarke's well-spun testimony today. The feeling I have tonight is exactly like I had for 8 years of Clinton....their lies are working. It makes me sick to my stomach.
