An emailer to The Corner at Nat'l Review Online says:
Jonah; To deter suspicions that he is partisan, today Clarke swore under oath that he would NOT accept any job in any Kerry administration - should there be one. To deter criticisms that he acting out of personal greed (by manufacturing a false controversy to sell his book), let's challenge Clarke to donate all proceeds from his book to the 9/11 families.

Haven't heard this on any TV news, but Tony Blair is in Libya meeting with Muamar Gadaffi.

Kudos to Laura for graciously enduring the stench of Ol' Blue Crusty.

Sure, I believe this:

"I WANT to expose my child to everything. What she decides on her own is fine. However my daughter turns out - if she's gay, if she becomes a Republican, if she becomes a Republican lesbian - as long as she's a happy one, I don't care" - Alec Baldwin in Gotham (PageSix)

More childishness and low-class behavior from celebrities:

Does Bill Cosby believe that Condoleezza Rice has cooties? At yesterday's Capitol Hill ceremony honoring civil rights icon Dorothy Height, the comedian was supposed to be seated next to President Bush's national security adviser - whose role in the run-up to 9/11 and its aftermath has come under intense scrutiny and heavy fire. But according to Republican sources, shortly before the proceedings commenced in the Capitol Rotunda - where Bush presented the 92-year-old Height with the Congressional Gold Medal - Cosby's assistant informed an event organizer that Cosby would prefer to sit elsewhere. The request was accommodated, I'm told.

Yesterday, Cosby spokesman David Brokaw said: "I just got a hold of him 20 minutes ago and I put the question to him: Did he ask not to sit next to Dr. Rice? And his answer was: 'That's not true.' "

Brokaw, however, was unable to explain why the seating arrangement was changed. "One of Mr. Cosby's people went up to an organizer and said Mr. Cosby does not want to sit next to Miss Rice," a top GOP staffer told me. "I think people were kind of shocked by his show of partisanship at a bipartisan ceremony."

As for Cosby's denial, the staffer insisted: "Mr. Cosby didn't ask. It was an assistant." Rice's spokesman told me: "Dr. Rice has the highest respect for Dr. Cosby and his work." (Cosby has a doctorate in education.) source

Have you thought of going with DISH TV? I got it a couple of years ago and will never go back to cable again. The picture quality is fantastic and you get all the good channels, including Fox News.

(Cosby has a doctorate in education.)

Isn't his doctorate an honorary one?

Ewwwwwww. A real man doesn't need to wear a lip tint.

Sooooo true. I think we're zeroing in on the 'Effing's' problem.

We've been thinking of going with the dish, but now we're also considering moving out into the country (too many people in this town of 300!), so probably will hold off on making a change until we decide. The hamster-powered cable will do for now, even if we have to do without FOXNews.

I've already begged him to add TV Food network, but to no avail!

Try promising cookies. You'd love the Food Network.

There are some unsettling similarities between noted Vietnam veterans Al Gore and J. Effin', not the least of which is the lip gloss and apparent use of makeup and/or cosmetic procedures. Very strange.

So sad. An event for the Alzheimer's Association and Rosalyn forgets to wear her slip.

We got the food network at our previous residence 8 years ago, and faithfully watched Sissy Biggers' and Sara Moulton's shows every evening. Peculiar behavior for newlyweds, perhaps, but he knew what he was getting when he married a culinary school alum.

Once you go Dish you never go back. They install everything for free, and if you move, you just take the box for the TV and they come out and put a new dish on your roof. The picture is clean and you don't lose the signal like on cable. I highly recommend the Tivo feature as well.

Here's a fashion clue, Hillary, when the invitation is at night, and it has the word GALA in it, you don't wear a freakin' pantsuit!!!!

You are very welcome, are you using the eye cream and Purity also? I will never use anything else again.

Haven't tried them yet. Just got their "Jump Starters" kit from DrugStore.com (aka Beauty.com). It has HIAJ moisturizer plus Purity, HIAJ eye cream, and H&AP topical vit c serum. Can't wait to give them a test drive.

The Beaste's choice of couture really is hideous and tacky. She trotted out that same old blue springtime pantsuit instead of wearing something appropriate to the occasion. Well, at least it wasn't Ol' Tomato, that bright red-orange one we've seen before.
