Sen. John Kerry sold his foreign mansion in Italy just weeks before he announced a run for the White House in January of 2003, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Actor George Clooney purchased the stunning 18th century mansion located in the Italian village of Laglio [50 miles north of Milan] from Kerry and his wife for $7,800,000. Clooney first learned about the listing from Brad Pitt, who had been holidaying with his wife Jennifer Aniston at Versace's compound nearby.
While Kerry and his wife's homes in the United States are worth at least $23,733,705, it is not clear if the candidate currently owns property overseas.
The campaign has repeatedly denied requests for any information on foreign assets held by Kerry.

Prayers for the little one, and I hope you're feeling better, too, IG.
Now for the news:
WE HEAR . . . THAT Chip Carter, son of Jimmy Carter, was overheard at the big Democratic National Committee fund-raiser the other night saying, "George Bush is giving sons of former presidents a bad name." (Page Six)
.......
THE Rev. Al Sharpton was smiling broadly the other night as he stood on the stage at the National Building Museum in D.C., his arms upraised and his hands clasping those of Jimmy Carter and Howard Dean. Farther down the line were Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore and John Edwards. "It's unprecedented for me, an activist, to be standing there with two presidents and four presidential candidates," Sharpton told PAGE SIX the day after the event, which raised $11 million for the Democratic Party. "I've come a long way from when I was ostracized. When the people who want to marginalize me saw that picture, I guess they were a little disappointed." [Apparently, Al doesn't know the meaning of the word 'token'] (PageSix)

I'd almost forgotten what spring looked like. Now watch it turn around and snow. That's what I fear. Today will be spectacular, so Mr. M and I are planning a long hike in the country. Tomorrow and the next few days - cooler and wet. Oh well.

Good Morning. No news from my son yet this morning,, which I hope means this ornery little grandson on mine is behaving himself and has settled down to do somemore growing before he enters the world.
Our youngest son entered the world 6 wks early weighing 5 lbs. Today, at age 25, he is 6'4" and as strong as an ox. But the better start they get, healthwise, the better off they are.

Very interesting that a point is made about his not having any difficulty with his sporting activities, just lifting babies. I would think with his described problem, he has more trouble than just his subscapularis, but hey- I'm not a physician.IMO, the snowboard spill aggravated whatever was wrong with his rotator cuff from before.

Yep - all this stuff is why the media keeps referring to jfk as the "presumptive" nominee of the dims. I'm still counting on the shrill one to be acclaimed at convention.
Bet ya a fat Iowa chop.
Hoping your posting means that you've already beaten back any silly cold.

OG wandered into my office about 45 minutes ago and changed the channels on the TV beside me,,, cleared his throat and said: "You NEED to watch this". It's the C-Spam replay of the Dick Cavett Show featuring a debate between Kerry & O'Neil.
Kerry was a confused individual even then. I wish I'd slipped a tape in the recorder. Kerry openly admitted to requesting early dismissal from the millitary after serving only 4 months in Nam because of his lack of support for the effort.
Dear Lord, please have the RNC running a tape. Amen.
Have decided it's allergies rather than a cold. It comes and goes. Not the typical cold.

I'm watching Kerry on Cavett and O'Neil is making mincemeat of him. Kerry's affected JFK accent is very entertaining. And he had the lizard-lip-licking affectation even then (June, 1971). It would be interesting to check old tapes and see if one of the Kennedys was a lip-licker, too, given Kerry's propensity for copying their every movement.

It took every bit of self control I possess to not mash the screen during that C-spam Cavett rerun.
If you figure out whether or not there was a Kennedy who licked his lips alot, let me know.

I could take only a few minutes of the Cavett show. Kerry is such a liar. Between his 1971 lies, his 2004 lies, Dick Clarke's lies - augghhh! I'm on dishonesty overload.

A new theory on Clarke:
On the day he testified Clarke was asked if he's a Democrat or Republican. He answered:
"Last time I had to declare my party loyalty, it was to vote in the Virginia primary...in the year 2000. And I asked for a Republican ballot".
The media dutifully interpreted his well-planned answer as proof of Clarke's non-partisanship.
Now, of course, we know from Salon that Clarke voted for McCain in that primary. Furthermore, we know from Meet the Press yesterday that he voted for Gore in the November general election.
Leaving aside the misleading nature of his answer to the commission, the disclosure of the Gore vote led me to re-evaluate the motives I previously attributed to Clarke's barrage against Bush. (I thought he was peeved at being passed over for promotion.)
I now have to consider the two angriest, most bitter political factions we've seen in the last several years: McCain voters and Gore voters. McCainiacs were bitterly anti-Bush after the mudbath in the S. Carolina primary. And we all know how the Gorons still nurse their anger at Bush's victory in Florida.
So here we have Clarke, a member of both factions. I have to wonder how anti-Bush he may have been by inauguration day. Did he start planning his blindside all the way back then? I think he so.
1) Suppose he spent the years 2001 and 2002--inside the White House-- KNOWING he was going to write a book. Wouldn't he conveniently leave behind a perfect record of how HE did everything right?!
2) Why would he have written down all those selective quotes from widely varied players PRIOR TO 9/11? Only a person writing a book would be inclined to write down quotes which seem unremarkable in a pre-9/11 context.
3) What about those previous statements where he contradicted himself? In every instance they were "on background" or in classified testimony. Perhaps he was confident they would never be disclosed.
I think this is plausible. Clarke was a Brutus, slinking around the White House collecting material for his book ('jes like a spider!).
And now, in his mind, he has the added pleasure of playing the hero who resurrected Clinton's elusive legacy! The role of a lifetime.

I, for one, am getting sick and tired of the media telling us how "fit" Kerry is. He does not look "fit"...he looks terminally ill. I know several men and women aged 60 and upwards who look more "fit" and some of them do not even exercise. I think he is a big wuss, too. Always whining about something, be it a cold or whatever.
The media also offends my sensibilities with their remarks that Teresa is "glamorous" in the Jackie O mode...Maybe she is just slumming it for the campaign for I have never seen her looking "glamorous"...she is usually in a dark pantsuit with a flamboyant scarf thrown over her shoulder. Has anyone ever seen her in a skirt or dress? She certainly did not look glamorous last Sunday when she showed up for church in a ski outfit.
Rant over...
To: lodwick
Hey there...nice to see you as we start out another week...
Kerry graced another black church with his presence yesterday...at least he wore a suit, unlike last Sunday when he wore ski clothes to Mass...
