Thanks for dropping by and I hope you had a great day yesterday!!

I am not Irish but in my younger days, I helped my Irish friends celebrate and what fun it was...in Buffalo NY of all places...a big parade and lots of Irish bar hopping afterwards.

I hate to say this, but does anyone think Hillary wouldn't be too brokenhearted if Kerry pulled a "Sonny Bono" on the slopes?

Huh? Why, yes, I am a dork!

More on the ski bum's vacation.

Yesterday, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mahathir Mohamad, an avowed anti-Semite, said that he was endorsing John Kerry for president of the United States. It took all of the three seconds for the Kerry campaign to issue a statement rejecting the endorsement, and saying this: "It is simply not appropriate for any foreign leader to endorse a candidate in America's presidential election. John Kerry does not seek, and will not accept, any such endorsements." Link

Despite the Kerry camp's protests Kim Jong Il whole heartedly endorses Kerry for president.

"You bet your ass!"

Not from anyone who isn't Western European, anyway.

The image-conscious candidate and his aides prevailed upon reporters and photographers to let him have a first run down the mountain solo, except for two agents and Marvin Nicholson, his omnipresent right-hand man.

His next trip down, a reporter and a camera crew were allowed to follow along on skis — just in time to see Mr. Kerry taken out by one of the Secret Service men, who had inadvertently moved into his path, sending him into the snow. [What no pictures?! Dang.]

When asked about the mishap a moment later, he said sharply, "I don't fall down," then used an expletive to describe the agent who "knocked me over."[This turd is dumber than I thought. Who would call one of the people protecting him a dirty word? Oh yeah, a clinton.]

The incident occurred near the summit. No one was hurt, and Mr. Kerry came careering down the mountain moments later, a look of intensity on his face, his lanky frame bent low to the ground.

Ms. Heinz Kerry, for her part, stuck to a pair of skis and was taking her time down the slope, accompanied by two old friends, one a former Olympian, the other a ski school instructor.

"I'm going tentatively, but prettily," she said, wearing tight black pants and a flaming red jacket.[Good one Teresa, it's about time.] Link

Mr. Kerry came careering [I assume they meant 'careening'] down the mountain moments later, a look of intensity on his face, his lanky frame bent low to the ground.

That's what I look like when I ski (except for the lanky part), but then I've done it only three times in my life, and I'll readily admit to looking like a clutz. Lurch would have us believe he's another Jean Claude Killy, when he's really just John Clod Kerry.

John Clod Kerr-ee...Good one!

When I first heard he was going on vacation, I thought "how odd!". This week he clinched the nomination AND it's the first anniversary of the Iraq war. Seems an odd time for his staff to have planned downtime.

When I saw the snowboard pictures, it hit me. They just HAD to get out pictures of their macho guy swishing down the slopes and, hey, the snow was melting!

You're right, he had to do something manly, and he couldn't wait till it was warm enough to go surfing.

Well, Good Grief!!

I understand he also purchased a jock strap this week,, so two 'manly' events in one week is bordering on overkill.

John Kerry is the second -- Gary Hart was the first --wannabe Kennedy imitator to inhabit our political landscape. He and Hart combed their hair like Kennedy, dressed like Kennedy, motioned with their hands like him, womanized like him -- although in fairness to Kerry, after landing a rich widow (making him the richest member of the Senate) he stopped chasing girls. Well, at least if he didn't actually stop, he managed damage control brilliantly, and at least in this respect, out-Clintoned Clinton. FUN READ BY JACKIE MASON

Labour forges ties with US' Democrats

Norway's Labour Party is joining other European social democrats in linking up with the Democrats in the US. The goal is to be prepared with common strategies if a majority of them on both sides of the Atlantic come back to power.

A group of European social democrats, led by former British Foreign Minister Robin Cook, met last week with several top Democratic politicians and party officials. They included US senators Hilary Clinton and Joseph Biden.

They also had meetings with Ron Klain of presidential candidate Wesley Clark's campaign, and Stan Greenberg, former US President Bill Clinton's campaign strategist in 1992.

On the agenda was European concern over current US foreign policy and the effects of globalization.

Espen Barth Eide, who led the Norwegian delegation, said the group met "understanding" that "economic globalization must be accompanied by political globalization."

There remain wide differences between the European social democrats and their counterparts in the US, who tend to be far more conservative.

Barth Eide called it "natural" however, "to begin with those (in the US) who are closest to us (in ideology), even though the Democrats of course aren't social democrats."

WASHINGTON - Coming soon to a computer near you: John Kerry (news - web sites) as ... Austin Powers?

A new GOP Web video pokes fun at the Democratic presidential nominee-to-be, dubbing him "the international man of mystery" for declining to identify foreign leaders he has claimed support him over President Bush (news - web sites).

"Who are you? Honestly?" a voice asks.

The Republican National Committee (news - web sites) plans to e-mail its 60-second video to 400,000 GOP supporters Friday.

It's a spoof of the "Austin Powers" films, using similar background music, psychedelic colors and phrases associated with actor Mike Myers' character, a fictional 1960s British spy.

"Allow myself to introduce ... myself," the voice says as two identical pictures of Kerry playing the guitar appear on screen. Phrases written in bubble letters on screen say: "John Kerry: International Man of Mystery" and "And My Foreign Supporters."

The video then shows several clips of Kerry, including one where he says: "I've had conversations with leaders. I've also had friends of mine who met with leaders. And I'm not going to betray the confidences of those leaders."

The Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) sent its own Web video to supporters Friday criticizing Bush for the federal deficit.

"We can balance the budget in the year 2005," a cartoon of Bush says. An announcer responds, "That sounds like a lot of hot air to me," as a red balloon that says "Bush's $5.2 Trillion Deficit" pops on the White House lawn.
