I guess they must be playing a breakfast gig at Kilkenny Pub right now and then they head up to Bartlesville this afternoon (too far away), then to Arnies pub this evening (remember the bar Steve and I went to? Little dive?)

Well, that starts at 4pm...and only goes till 6pm, so I might head over there to the pub with the jedis, because that is an outside tent thing...

I've never read a romance novel ever. And I like my sci-fi on the hard side, manly stuff. Closest to sci-fi romance I've read would be Joe Haldeman. lol

When I first got the internet, one of the first things I did was go searching info about my favorite sci-fi writers. I was really disgusted to find out that James Tiptree Jr. was a she -- strapping-on a male persona in order to sell her stories. I knew there was a big secret years earlier about her identity, that no one knew who Tiptree was. Some were suspecting she was an agent of some area of our government, or something. Lotta hoopla to sell her stories. Now she is the sci-fi mascot for lesbian women.

When you read a novel, you are essentially following the author to a place he wants to take you. It is intimate contact, it is. Especially with the best ones like Ray Bradbury, et al.

I don't read women authors, because I don't want to follow them anywhere. I'm a chauvanist maybe. And I sure don't want to follow a lesbian woman anywhere. The finding left me nauseous, and I suppose it is the closest we women might come to understanding what it is like for a man with an interest in a woman then that she is a he. ugh

Morning Glorious!

His "Incarnations of Immortality" series is brilliant.

You got that right! I enjoyed the "Bio of a Space Tyrant" series nearly as much.

Oh, I'll read just about anything, Rose! I go through phases for certain authors - Linda Lael Miller is a sure fire winner for cowboy romance, Amanda Quick was terrific until each one of her regency-era novels was almost exactly like the one before, Cassie Edwards was fun, but her Indian love scenes practically burned the book out of my hands, Sandra Hill's Viking series is a hoot and I still love Jude Deveraux's medievel stuff!

A Knight in Shining Armor remains one of my favorites. I'm a big time-travel fan!

Rats...that's when I'm going to be prepping for and playing for the concert. Though I can't really listen to music at work anyway. Do you know if they archive shows? Maybe I could listen to some of it later.

My monitor recommended her to me as an example of Good Romance...

She did her research, created detailed characters, pushed the envelope on certain taboos in "fun" fiction and teaches history while giving a really nice love scene every now and again!

I'm gonna re-read it!

It's not like framing and drywall hanging are things I can put on a resume, but heck, they're good things to know.

When you can 'do it yourself', you save a lot of money! That's why we're going to be able to put a nice large addition on to our house. SSQ knows how to do all of it, and we're gonna have both college aged sons home this summer. We're gonna pay them for their time, since they could be out in the working world, but this way, they get free room and board ( and they like my cookin!), so they're thinking it's worthwhile!

Another reason it will work for us is that there are so many innovations in construction these days; insulated concrete forms, engineered lumber and joists, PEX tubing so you don't have to be sweating copper pipes, lasers for levels, etc. Can you tell we're excited about it? SSQ is enjoying getting all these new 'toys'. Did you see 'Gimli'? We'll take a picture of him in action against the tree stumps when the snow melts.
