The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Gosh, I'm too shy to send a picture, let alone travel to a strange place. I truly am a hobbit.

Hubby just shook his head when he saw the card I sent to Hair.

"You bought a card for two people you don't know because another person you don't know asked you to? And you're sending this card to yet another person you don't know so he can give it to them?" :^)

But if I ever get to Crawford, you can dang well bet I'll come see ya. Hubby couldn't stop me. LOL

I've got to bail too. My eyes are getting really tired.

Catcha later. I'll see if I can find a pic that doesn't look too scary, circa 1977. LOL

Fedora huh? He is outted. And here I thought he was a lot younger!

For national security reasons, I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations--wouldn't be prudent at this juncture :)

I don't remember Clan of the Cave Bear much, but I put the sequel down because - yuck...

Hey, now, I learned a lot from that book... ;-)

Some of those romances aren't half bad. I don't read them on purpose, but I've narrated several for the state program.

The historical romances as a rule are better than the contemporary.

Thank you for self-sensoring. Some of us are good girls.

Now I'm really glad I didn't post that Viggo picture!

Try Terry Pratchett.

I like Terry, but I'm tired of Discworld... I wish he'd do something stand-alone.
