The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh...that's one we sing in the car sometimes...start off fairly slow and get so we're just shouting it out at top speed. Too fun!
Nice picture, by the way! You're gorgeous!
I've got a stack o' instruments here in my office...playing for a noontime concert and my brothers left their instruments here, too. I hope that goes OK...I'm kinda nervous.

Hobbit Hole Care Package Alert!I just got this email this morning from Maj Wes in Afghanistan...
Mrs. [2jedismom],
I received your package yesterday and shared it with my team. They enjoyed it and we are all really appreciative. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.
Please tell your friends that bandage scissors are useful items to have in a combat zone, and they have numerous uses. Thanks for the last package and the knife. You are most kind.
Simcerely,
MAJ Wesley

Rosie, let me recommend Anne McCaffrey to you, if you haven't read her before.I'll have to check and see if I can find some of her books. I saw you posted a list later...I need to bookmark that! To be honest, one of the reasons I'm a bit turned off by some science fiction and fantasy is the whole series thing...seems like there are so many that you have to read all of and in the proper order, and living where I do it's very hard to get a hold of an entire series without purchasing it new.

Doin' OK. We didn't get as much snow as they thought we might, which is a good thing, IMO. I was late for work, though...had to bring two brothers (bothers?) with me, and one of 'em took forever to get dressed and ready. Sigh. But we all made it.
They're going to goof off for a bit before helping to get the equipment set up for the concert. Hope that goes OK. There are a few songs I don't feel as confident about as I think I should. *fret*
