The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

On the other hand, I don't mind reading comics which were meant to be in black & white, like many indies of the 80's & 90's were published.

I also liked the old Marvel b&w mags--Savage Sword of Conan, Dracula Lives, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, Spectacular Spider-Man, Rampaging Hulk, Marvel Premiere, etc. Still have a bunch of those, but unfortunately I sold most of my Savage Swords and Kung Fu mags--wish I still had those, always keep an eye out for them. Them and those giant-sized DC Collector's Edition and Marvel Treasury Edition reprints--those were another good way to read old issues.

There's another way to look at it... it's the most important thing to happen in the middle east whether we pull it off, or not.

If this exercise in democracy in Iraq doesn't work for the long run, it is unfortunately *also* the most important thing to happen in the middle east this century. In that case it is simply bad news, instead of good, but the import is the same. I hope that is not what it becomes because it then means that many, many people will die for a dead cause.

You know, I'm actually not a big fan of sweet foods, unless it's chocolate.

Well, have to get to bed if I expect to get up at 4:45 tomorrow morning... good night!

I'm not much of a sweet eater myself. But, this thing is different. Different enough that I'll make it even. Which is unusual!

Hope all's well in your part of the world. I'm going to Mo. in the morning, be back tomorrow afternoon.

Drop your Grandma an email if you get a chance, she fell again but she's ok now. Tripped over a throw rug this time and got black eyes and bruises. Not good on an 83 year old person. The Dad.
