The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Much better, thanks!
Actually got a note from the president of my company congratulating me on my 2 letters of praise from 2 of my nicest clients. :-)
Not to mention, I only had 5 payrolls to run and they were all trouble-free! Thank God for that!

I don't remember Clan of the Cave Bear much, but I put the sequel down because - yuck...
Thank you for self-sensoring. Some of us are good girls. (You're neither.)

Really? I honestly thought there was way too much graphic sex. ~pause while everyone makes a note~

Good for you Ruthy! 2 compliments when most people don't even go to the trouble to compliment far outweigh one problem! :-)
Nice to have a quiet day huh?

Hi there, Ramius!
I read all of Jean Auel's books, except Shelters of Stone (is that the name?), which is the latest. The sex parts weren't that graphic, IIRC. Just descriptive. *grin*
I've read quite a few romance novels in my day that were far more hot-flash-inducing!

Read all of the clan of the cave bear books. Good series.Well, I plan to read it partly because the story I'm working on now involves some prehistoric stuff and I want to see if Auel did anything I should be aware of. Maybe I'll just close my eyes for certain pages :)

Haven't read Williams yet, either. My reading list keeps growing--which is a good thing :)

The sex parts weren't that graphic,'t's what I was thinkin'. LOL
I got Shelters of STone last fall. I was a little disappointed with it though. Still, had to keep up with the series. :-)

One novel I read that you might find interesting is "Sarum"That sounds like what you get if you combine a Dark Lord with a former Smeagol :)

I'm gonna have to take off here in a little bit. I have some consultant reports to read. It's sorta like reading porn, only without the sex. Leaving... yeah. That's about how much fun it is.

Sorry bout that! I got kicked off of this lousy dial-up again. Grrr...
I was afraid of being disappointed with Shelters of Stone, since I did enjoy the series so much. Still, I guess I'd better hit the used book store and give it a try!
