The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That's an idea! Track for a week or two, that should give you a few ideas.

Also I have been told that weight lifting ends up making you burn more calories than running or other aerobic exercises, because you build muscle and muscle takes more calories to maintain. I don't know, one way or another, but I feel like my lifting-diet-running routine has to be doing something for me.

Tae-bo? Like, big kicks and stuff?

Congrats on the first leg of the title! You got a red ribbon for fifth place? - If you hadn't said anything, I'd have sworn it was a second!

When she is all done she can have her own retirement wall with all her ribbons!

Bond is just so cliché, don't you think? ;~D The point wasn't Fried Green Tomatos.... the point was that we were together. I didn't get a mirror out or anything!

I just made myself an orange blueberry fruit smoothie! Don't know what I'll have for dinner. Haven't thought about it yet. Just was in the mood for something cool.

Bond! Cliche! Bite your tongue!

Fried Green Tomatoes is just so.... tedious. If not worse. I have yet to be able to sit through the whole thing. And yet it is one of Myranda's favorite movies.

That wasn't a place ribbon - that is her maroon "qualifying score" ribbon.

There is a minimum qualifying score in each event. In order to win the Agility Dog title in USDAA, she has to make three qualifying scores in Standard events under two different judges, and one qualifying score in each of the non-standard events.

Are those conformation or performance ribbons in your pic (or both)? I know you are proud of your boy.

Oh, come on, Bond is cliche.

Given the choice of that or Fried Green Tomatoes, though, I'd take Bond any day. Heck, I'd take three Bond films, and not even all of them with Sean Connery.

You could produce new bond films with a cookie cutter.... think up a couple new villian names, and find some new girls to be bedded.... otherwise, same movie.

Where is your sense of adventure?

And of watching cool explosions and firepower?

Ahh.... The green ones are qualifying ribbons for obedience, and the one above them are placement ribbons.

Looks good if I had only entered him five times. He failed to qualify for two whole years. ;~D.... if he didn't mount the dog next to him and get disqualified, he always did well ;~D

He retired one qualifyer short of CDX.... the jumps were injuring him and I quit.

Actually..... that's not true.... He only had one CDX score. He had four qualifyers for CD because I had already entered him for another show when he titled.

Kinda. It's basically a combination of aerobics and strength training, I guess I'd say. This one was mostly lower body, which I'm assuming means the other video is more upper body. I faked quite a bit, though, mostly because I'm VERY uncoordinated, and by the time I figured out one move, they'd be on to another. If I did it a couple times a week I'd probably get it. May use that for my off days, since it pretty much is strength training.

That old dominance thing, huh?

Shelley is a little bit bossy (she was Boss Dog in a litter of 9) but she LOVES agility so much she's too busy to boss (she also is the only dog on the course, except in Pairs. She runs pairs with the cutest little Black Lab who could be her sister - "Torrie" and "Shelley" - the Black Tornado and the Brown Bombshell. They get along great - only problem is that when we're passing the baton THEY want to play!)

. . . and nobody need know how often they were entered before they won something (this was Shelley's third trial, but the first one was just for fun. It was when she came just one point short of qualifying in trial no. 2 that I started to get serious about this business! :-o )
