The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

But they only run one lap! All that bother for one steenkin' lap?
Usually I'll watch the race and putter around at the same time...samething with baseball.
To: Overtaxed
Hee, the bother is half the fun! The ladies in their hats and the jockeys in their silks. I like it.

Darrell "Wall-hit?"Yeah! Him! hehehe
Myranda's dad used to race Sportsman class though and he bought Darrell's year old cars to race. Uh, that was back in the '70's. Long time ago!
You know I raised Myranda right. She's a die-hard Earnhardt fan too. Now that she and her dad are back in touch with one another it seems he's disturbed over her choice of racers. hehehehe

Ain't even enough time to finish yer mint julep.
To: Wneighbor
it seems he's disturbed over her choice of racers. But they're on the same team now!
To: Overtaxed
I think he thinks I messed her up! He knows where that Earnhardt loyalty comes from! No tellin' who he's supporting now. Myranda didn't say. He's prolly a Jeff Gordon fan. Ewwww.

One of them deals.
To: Overtaxed
You're supposed to drink the mint juleps first. Enough of them and the race is really fun.
What are you supposed to drink during Nascar? Beer? Whatever you want?

Well, take note of the date. I just packed away the Christmas decorations that Hair talked me into getting out. Up to now, they've been sitting on obscure counterspace in my breakfast room.

Oh, and since I only got in one workout this week, being sick all the time, I'm going to start week whatever still again. Oh well.Heh...I probably should, too, but I think I'll start with day 2.
Back from my travels. Got some treats, but mostly was good...it was mainly a stock-up trip to Wal-Mart for stuff like laundry detergent. Really exciting! Not. ;-)
I did also stop by the music store for a box for the case, and also tried some very-good-but-not-super-expensive kinda guitars. I'm toying now with the idea of selling mine but right away replacing it with something fairly nice, but that wouldn't cost all that much, therefore leaving me with quite a bit to pay off Van-sama and fix him, and maybe put some toward the last heating bill. Yeah, I still have a lot of sentimental attachment to my current guitar, but on the other hand it's SO nice that it rarely leaves the house, and guitar isn't my main instrument, anyway. So...I'm starting to talk myself into it. I mean...having something new might be kinda fun. Wouldn't have the memories, though. *snif* But then...memories are something you can always make more of...
Speaking of music, we're going to take the one at the college, depending on whether it pays - I'm assuming it does, but Bill wants me to check. Grr...hard to know how to put that question without sounding rude.
Now to catch up here.

Trouble was, they were pretty much out of sight... therefore, I coulda left 'em out all year if I hadn't decided to clean that counter today. I only took out about a dozen ornaments and a little tinsel.

Sounds like you're feeling a little better!
I might do day two, depending on how I feel tomorrow night. I'm not getting up early, not when I'm not used to Daylight Savings yet.
As to the guitar, can't give you any advice. I have found, though, that memories attach easily to a physical object, but at the same time... even when I don't have the thing, I still do have the memories. The common-sense part says 'sell the guitar' - but common sense isn't all it's cracked up to be. Try not to guilt yourself into doing something you don't want to do, I guess.
Thank goodness, the snow has stopped. I actually see a few blue patches. Wish it were warm.
