The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I was being lazy and trying to avoid visiting the website :) Okay, I looked:

Its Official! Sci-Fi Channel's Battlestar Galactica is a go with 13 episodes!

SCI FI Channel on Feb. 10 announced that it has given the green light to produce 13 episodes of a new Battlestar Galactica series, based on the channel's "reimagined" Galactica miniseries that aired in December 2003. The network has ordered 13 one-hour episodes of the show, which will bring back cast members Edward James Olmos (Adama), Mary McDonnell (Laura Roslin), Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) and Tricia Helfer (Number Six). Production is slated to begin next month in Vancouver, B.C., the network announced. Ronald D. Moore (Carnivale, Roswell) returns as executive producer. Galactica will be produced exclusively for SCI FI, in association with Sky One and distributed by USA Cable Entertainment, where David Eick, an executive producer of the miniseries, serves as executive vice president.

BTW, the miniseries was pretty good.

You, my dear, are in for a treat! I think SSQ and I enjoyed it as much as the kids did!

What's it about? I think I've been avoiding it because the title reminds me of How Stella Got Her Groove Back. But it sounds like some Hobbit Holers think it's good, so I guess I'll have to see it.

It's about a spoiled brat South American Emperor; sets looked Mayan. Behind the scenes is an evil old woman who's plotting against him. Her name is Yzma (pronounced Izma) and she is voiced by Eartha Kitt in a hilarious role. David Spade is the Emperor, and while I don't like his live action stuff (except for the dweeb in P.C.U.) he was perfect for the voice of the Emperor.

It is a FUN movie!

That was wierd movie! Even my kids didn't like it. They won't watch it again, even now that they're teenagers and can handle all that darkness.

We did the Tenebrae service tonight. We did pretty well, except for one piece where the violin, cello, and organ were playing at different tempos (they were NOT supposed to be) and it confused the men who were supposed to come in first on the song. They came in at about 3 different pitches because no one could find it in any of the instruments. It was so bad that I and a few other altos started singing their parts to try to get them back on track. When the women came in, everyone had found their pitch and it ended nicely.

We got lots of compliments on it, but we'll do better next year. It wasn't bad considering we'd only had two rehearsals to perfect 9 different pieces. Most had the CD and the score, so many of us learned our parts on our own and just got used to singing them with everyone else. Even with the CD, however, I still needed the practices!

I'll see y'all late Sunday night. Clare and I and two of her friends are going to CONBUST, which is a convention at Smith College in Northhampton for women in Sci-Fi and Anime. The girls are going to sell some of their artwork, and the custom IDs they do with caricatures of folks done in anime style. We're just gonna spend the night over there tomorrow night so we don't have to do the 1- 1/2 hr. drive home then back again on Sunday.

When we get home Sunday night, we're going to the 'eat while you watch the movie' theater to see RoTK!

Drank it. I can get another one for you though, whenever you want it. :-)

You know that we will be back in your neck of the woods in a few months and we will be expecting that red hook when we get to Ft. Lewis.

What's a little missy like y'all want with a big ol' pickup truck anyway? Care to see something a little more dainty... like this Honda over here...?

This explains how it is possible someone talked Lisa into that full-sized truck with a V-6. I didn't even know they made them, the idea is so stupid... till she bought one.

I would like to see them tell me that.... 'Yes, I need a 3/4 ton heavy duty truck. I am pulling a horse trailer that isn't just to look cool, it has 3 tons of horses in it! Now.... get your wife out here to sell me this truck for you before you screw up the whole deal.'

It was a good ol huntin rig, all it needed was a sign saying "this is not abandoned, please don't tow".

LOL! ~chuckling~

My ole rattle-trap Bronco II coulda used a sign like that. It started to leak somewhere in the roof, so I took out the headliner that was always wet, and the carpet that was always wet. Just bare metal inside.... was louder than heck inside goin' down the road... But it did make me feel a little like the Road Warrior.

When Hair and I were just wee ones... Dad had an old International Travelall. That thing would go *anywhere*.

Didn't that catch fire?
