The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Lawyers are having meetings somewhere.... sending letters.... talking about dollar amounts.

Hmmm... Maybe The Hobbit? But, New Line isn't talking about it?
That would be way cool... if it's true!

It's gotta be a joke.
Paul Andersson is WIDELY hated by fans of genre movies, and is considered a hack director by most.
I'm going to do some poking around, just to be sure, but that's my take on it, I'll get back to Y'all.

Thank you, Miss Hair.

Does this mean Jackson won't be working on it?

Yep. None of the major websites which track film developments like Aint it Cool News and CHUD have anything at all, and on something like this, they would.
Also, on the "website", notice the little spot where it says, "major announcement on April 2"? Whaddya wanna bet it'll link to a full-page "APRIL FOOL!"?

Psst.... someone on this thread has sent me some info about possible ways to make cookies from dvds. I'm not sure it'll work right but I'm going to research it.
But if you ever get any Kenshin you have to promise me you'll watch it in Japanese, the English voice actors are really laughable.

I have yet to watch any anime in English - a whole episode, in any case. Totoro is the one exception...but that's kinda different, anyway.
BTW, once I took Quicktime out of start-up using msconfig...the fan problems on my laptop went away for the most part. Evil, nasty, loathsome Apple spawn...

Nice art! I'll have to see that.
BTW, my Science Fiction: The Illustrated Encyclopedia has some sections on Japanese comics and anime. Here are some titles they identify as historically significant--read/seen any of these?
Comics: Tetsuwan Atomu (1952-1968), Space Battleship Yamomoto (1974-5), Galaxy Express 999 (1976-81), Akira (1982-93), Lum-Urusei Yatsura (1978-86), Appleseed (1985-), 2001 Nights (1984-6), Grey (1986)
TV/Anime: Ultraman (1966-7), Mazinger Z (1972-4), Kido Senshi Gundam (Mobile Suit Gundam) (1979-80), Chojiku Yosai Macross (Super Dimensional Fortress Macross) (1982-3), Chojiku Seiki Orguss (Super Dimensional Century Orguss) (1983-4), Kido Keisatsu Patlabor (Mobile Police Patlabor) (1989-91)

Speaking of Japanese stuff, today I was watching Godzilla's Revenge and I noticed that in the beginning sequence one of the monsters makes a noise that sounds almost exactly like Howard Dean's famous scream--I kid you not! :)
