The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Caffeine....one of your basic food groups.

We planted a bunch of peppers and tomatoes last weekend. And I forgot to water them and they died.
I am very upset about it...I can't think of everything!
I'll be Soooo glad when Steve is done with school...

Kewl! Does that mean you don't have to fight him for the computer anymore?
To: Overtaxed
Naw...he's got his iMac...the lime green monstrosity. He'll still be able to use it. And I have my PC which was fixed while you were Entmooting...it's actually better than it was before. I'm on the PC right now.
I imagine this will come in handy when I want to freep in the kitchen, though...eh??
It's a mac though...too bad. But, I don't look a gift horse in the mouth!

I really love caffeinated coffee...I have that good kind that my BIL sent me from Berkley. I think I will just drink it now and then, once I get us off the regular stuff.
I'm not ready to do this diet thing, though...I just eat the carbs that the boys eat. We'd already gotten into the whole grain breads and such, you know? Besides, my bagels that I bought a while back are gone...I have a few "extras" that I bought from the day-old rack, but now Walmart doesn't carry them, so I'm not going to make any effort to find them.
But when I want half a box of girl scout cookies...I want 'em!

Grrr.....Macs. I still have to deal with one at work.

Ain't it like chewing on tree bark?
To: Overtaxed
LOL Well, the kinds I get are pretty good...got sunflower seeds in it and such. But it is a lot chewier than my Sunbeam!
Wouldn't ya know, Steve never wants hot cereal until now! And he can't have ANY traditional hot cereals (at this point). So I took my coffee grinder and coarsely ground up some whole flaxseed (zero net carbs). Poured some hot water on in, mixed in a little Splenda and cinnamon and he just gobbled it up! I kept thinking he'd offer me a taste!
He never did!
I'm pretty proud of how it's going...even his co-workers have noticed how good his meals look!
Tonight we're having your wings!

It's a pretty strict diet that doesn't allow oatmeal!
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, but you can have all the ham and eggs you can eat! LOL Seems backward, huh?
But it's working!
And we're major carnivores around here...Steve was dating a vegetarian when he met me, you know...the rest is history!

Another thing...Steve and I have always steadfastly refused to eat margarine, life is just too short to eat something that seems to be a molecule away from plastic.
Butter is allowed on this diet!

So....does he get to eat carbs eventuallY? I don't think I could do Atkins. Don't want to give up pasta, rice, or potatoes, and I don't do artificial sweeteners.

Eggplants? lots of good stuff, eggplant parsenean(sp?), ratoulli and caviar. LSA has some great recipies for eggplant.
To: osagebowman
I just potted up 6 of them today. I made a pasta sauce with cubed eggplant in it for this afternoon. 'Course it was a "store-bought" eggplant but it worked pretty well for something just thrown together.

Rosie; well, you might want to consider an older 'rescue' dog, they have a lot to give, but Warning, don't surf the rescue sites till you're ready, the stories and pictures are enough to make you want to adopt them all.
To: g'nad
g'nad; sounds like the garden has a great start, congrats.
'good, used 3/4 ton truck' KEWL. Flat fender Dodge Powerwagon or '49 Chev 2100 series?

Took Gypsy over to Petco this afternoon, she did pretty good, petted a few times by young uns, and enjoyed the ride. Got her some food and doggie treats. She's crashed now, after her excellent adventure, which seems like a good idea.

Hmmm, long ribbons with flowers attached, trailing in a v from the centerpiece of flowers, might be lei-like and still go well with the hobbity headpiece.
