The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Clipboard trouble!
To: HairOfTheDog
No kidding! You would laugh if you saw me now. I may get into *real* trouble with this before long. I got set up with a dual monitor system in both my office and the classroom this week. I've got ya'll on the right hand screen and the video work project going on the left hand screen.
Next thing you know the clipboard will contain school crap or disgusted emails to someone about this project! LOL
Or they'll get something about temps reaching 60 in Vermont and 65 in Washington! Dunno if I can still handle 2 monitors been outta practice for a while.

I know full well the risk you live with every day with your clipboard!

Snowshoeing in late March? sheesh.Heh...we've been known to get blizzards in late April! Granted, the snow doesn't stay on the ground long...but in any case it'll be a month or so before it's really spring.

I am much better today. Able to Dwight Up again. Yesterday was bad. G kept calling me, full of slime-tongue sweetness. puke
I'm almost done with the Dwight write. :) Here's my thought on it for the morning. lol
The hole in my heart is still bleeding
And leaking what little I feel
I'm dancing aright, and Dwight's leading
Cause fantasy's safer than real
I'll follow him to a sweet finding
Of patches I'm needing to seal
The rhythm a measure of binding
And pace a sure way to the heal

Is it four yet?
I am soooo ready for this week to be over. What with people being out, extra stuff to do, and dealing with Cleo and her medication and the worry involved with that...it's just been a very long week.
Can't wait to get some fresh mandolin strings put on and head to that jam tonight!

Couldn't figure out how much water to put in the wild rice (for the boy's lunch). Called for 1 cup of rice to 4 cups of water. I had a third of a cup. So I called my mom.
She said a very profound thing to me...
She said "What you do to one side, you do to the other."
Just like Matthew's math that I was fretting over so badly a while back, remember?
The cup of rice was divided into thirds...the 4 cups of water needed to be divided into thirds too.
1 and 1/3 cups water.
This may seem silly and elementary to you, but it's a stunning breakthrough to me!

I am soooo ready for this week to be over. Me, too. I'm really tired. Been thinking too much this week. But at least I'm having a much better day than I did earlier this week. But it is way too gorgeous outside to be stuck in front of a computer. *pout*
We got plans for the weekend, tho. Will assemble my garden (might have to repaint the blocks, it's a very strange green), purchase and plant the emergency screens (to block the doughboy view), and stain/seal the deck.

And the rest of the Hobbit Holers appear to have ditched us. *snif*
Did I mention I need to change mandolin strings?
And clean?
And fold laundry?
I could be so much more productive there...
