The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Hey all, I just heard from Corin. His mom elected to have a lumpectomy at the recommendation of the oncologist. The surgery was today and she came through with flying colors. The doctor gave a good report after the surgery and his mom even got to come home tonight!
There will be follow-up radiation but this is all good news at this point.
Ya'll all know that Corin appreciates your prayers!

Hey, this is the Granny's-R-Us place! :-)LOL! I always liked going to my Grandma's house as a kid 'cause she kept a set of toys for the grandkids :)

I got a bunch of corned beef briskets on sale after St. Patrick's Day! LOL
I figure the whole sandwich would be about 4.8 carbs...
"bun" 3.2g (each slice is 1.6)
Swiss cheese 1g per 1oz slice
2 tbsp sauerkraut .6g
Then heaps of meat...which has no carbs that count!

Except...there's another step I think I'm missin'. What could it be, what could it be?Sounds like to me you're all set up Rosie. Doing things the right way. You know, I only *wished* I had all this stuff when my kids were little. I started too soon and was never able to get stuff for them like this. You are way ahead in the game!!! VERY GOOD!!!

No...I thoughtfully ate up all the ice cream! And I took a great big tin and put all the cookies, granola bars, bags of sugar and such in that...he doesn't even know where it is and is never home long enough to look for it.
But he doesn't seem too interested, really...he is only overweight because he wasn't eating right...just grabbing tons of junkfood to get by.

Nope. It would appear I'm not high on the priority list for today. Funny... we had an hour and a half meeting thing morning... [sigh]

Good to hear from Corin about his mom. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Well, we just got done watching Secondhand Lions. I have seen it before, but I have to say, it was like watching it for the first time. PE thought it was pretty good too. We both laughed a lot. I think you really must make a point to rent *this* one, that way you can see it a few times to pick up on stuff you might not catch just seeing it once. It reminds me of stories I have heard at family reunions about lions on the loose (Clell Vardeman used to tell that story), and whatnot. Main actors are Robert Duvall, Michael Caine, and Haley Joel Osment (who is a very distant relative on my mom's grandma's side - mom's grandma was an Osment).

I learned all I know about being a granny from my precious Grama! I can only hope to live up to her level of grandmotherliness! But, I sure am havin' fun tryin'! :-)

That's really good to hear. There have been wonderful advances along those lines in the last couple of decades. This one is beatable, nowadays, in really encouraging numbers. It's not the sentence it used to be, that's for sure...
To: Ramius
Awwww. *scratching back* You want to be on a priority list? I got one for ya. hehehe

But the thing is, this isn't like any diet I've ever seen! He just isn't going hungry. And he's not got these weird cravings or anything. He just eats and then is satisfied.
He can have your hotwings, btw...I've got 'em in the fridge, waiting to be cooked.
