I had one that wasn't too bad when I worked for the state. Of course they were pretty much stuck in their jobs until someone died or retired like the rest of us. :) They weren't the pushy gung-ho prove-yourself-to-get-ahead type.
To: RosieCotton
'Course this last time around, I had already worked with most of the managers as a temp for over a year so I already knew what to expect.

"It's better being interviewed by men. They aren't catty and the women bosses mostly turn out to be b*tches.I agree exactly. I like it being the only female teacher where I am. The only other wimmin there are the secretary, one work study and my friend Celia the cleaning lady. Celia is a good friend. Trustworthy. The secretary is just as catty as women get. I figure there's prolly some joke or other she's getting outta giving me this birthday dress, but I'm not sure what she's up to. I got enough manners though to wear it after she gave it to me at least.

Yep, you're lucky. I've had decent women supervisors in my life, but they were few and far between. Better to have a male supervisor. Always hated the thought of it when I was a supervisor. Was always asking myself if I was being *itchy like all the rest. Kinda paranoid about it. But, I was told I wasn't like that.... after I quit working there so maybe they weren't just tellin' me that. LOL

You know, I never tried to get ahead at my last 2 jobs. But, they kept pushing me into new stuff like that. I really would rather just work than supervise.

Well, I gotta go to work now. Our systems have been completely down over the whole college since sometime during spring break. Long college mini-drama going on there that's just too ridiculous to explain. We have no idea when we're going to be back online. 'nuther office politics story there. So, I'll talk to ya'll again *after* I get home from work tonight.

You could always tell the secretary that the bag look is in.

That get-ahead b*tch that I worked for with "Company X" (I'll flip burgers before I work there again) would always do this "favorites" thing. She would always demand that the "non-favorites" work most of the weekends, then promote people over the poor suckers who were bustin' it to get the work done, and then rag on them when they said they already had plans for the weekend.

Our systems have been completely down over the whole college since sometime during spring break.Man...would that EVER not fly here! If we're down for ten minutes, it's cause for grand scale panic.

Hey there guys and gals! PQ here!
Remember a month back, February 11th, to be exact; I had a prayer request. To pray for my Dad and his battle against alcoholism. Well, I want to say thank you and PLEASE keep praying for him. I recently sent him a letter and told him about my experience when I went to go see the Passion of the Christ. Here is what he replied:
I want to see the movie so bad but I don't want to go alone. Regardless of what people say, it's actually a beautiful sacrifice that Jesus gave to save mankind. I am not a very religious or spiritual person, but I do serve the Lord in my own way. I thank him for everything. I love Jesus and I love my children. I was away for 20 years and 8 months, 10 years overseas. So I did not raise you, your Mom did. As well as your brother, I realize I was never there for you, but I love you, Joey, Jeric and all of your family as much as my own. I have to fight my addiction every day, but I know the evil one is trying to kill me, but I was saved, baptized, and I believe in the Blood of Jesus, so please never give up hope for me. We are family, and we should never have negative thoughts about each other. We have to fight the beast every moment, even in our sleep. Please forgive my mistakes, what bad words come from my mouth, it's not me, it's the demons of alcoholism. Life is tough. I've been working since I was 13 years old, I am tired. Wish me luck and pray for me. You are the best, Baby girl, I love you so much, your Dad

Yep, you're lucky. I've had decent women supervisors in my life, but they were few and far between. Better to have a male supervisor.Since the women on the list have broached the subject, I'm hoping it's safe for me to voice my male perspective on it without getting flamed :) In my work experience, I've had a few decent female supervisors, but I've also noticed a significant percentage who seem like they feel compelled to compete with men in the "bossiness" department--like they have something to prove because they're a woman--and as a result they end up treating their employees like a mother scolding children, which rubs adults the wrong way. That's been my main complaint with female supervisors. I imagine if you're a female employee a female supervisor might react to you differently than they'd react to a male employee, though--maybe different issues and problems involved than I'd experience from my end.

Will definitely pray about that, PQ. It sounds like he's working through a lot of stuff and going through some healing right now.

Well, Kitty Number 6 is going in for exploratory surgery tomorrow.... the Barium test today showed some kind of tumor, they think.... cant tell if it is one or more than one, and the vet guesses that these type of tumors are also malignant, like your choice Rosie..
The surgery tomorrow will be to look, and if possible, remove a section of bowel that is affected. If there is too much intestine affected or too many sections that would have to come out they will just put him down in surgery.
The alternative is either continued force feeding, which is not a good option, or just putting him down now. Dad is willing to spend the money to see if he can still have some more years.... Many of us pet owners know the drill. Rosie, lets hope for the best for our kitties.
To: PurpleQ
Pretty intense stuff PQ! Not all dads will ever talk that way from the heart!
Can you go with him to see the movie?
To: HairOfTheDog
Will pray for your kitty, also. Hope it turns out well.
To: HairOfTheDog
Aw man. That doesn't sound very good.
Best wishes...know this is probably a tough week for you as it is. One year anniversary tomorrow, right?
Kind of a twisted coincidence, I guess.
Cleo is quiet today, but seems OK so long as she doesn't have to move much. She didn't like getting the antibiotic...but I don't imagine ANY of us would much enjoy someone pinning us down and squirting sticky, sweet pink goo in our mouth. Poor kitty!

He's older than the hills, this kitty, upper teens. He used to be mine, but has been my dad's kitty since he wouldn't let me take him when I moved. "He's too old to move" Dad said, nearly ten years ago. But the vet seems to think he is otherwise healthy enough to give it a try... We'll see. Thank you for your prayers...
WN.... the vet estimated that the cost would be between $300 (short surgery, can't do anything) to $500 for the longer surgery if there was hope. I asked Dad if he was gonna offer $600 if they would clip him for summer while he was still out. He's gonna ask ;~D
To: PurpleQ
What a sweet note, PQ! I'm still praying for him, for sure.

Hulllo... in the office now. My email's been dead slow today, I don't know why. Got a headache and I want to go home and pack for my trip tomorrow.
Oh, and I did my workout this morning. Not sure how that's going to work out but it came out ok today.

I need to do mine, still. And today was a nightmare. And tomorrow I'm literally the only one in the office - out of five people. I'll be lucky if I don't end up in tears of frustration by 10 AM.
Grrr.
