The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

and grounds for shunning and gnashing of teeth.

And that would be different from current practice, how?

My legs are sore from something, not sure what. The (sort of) good thing is that the muscles that are sore are the ones I don't think have gotten that strong yet, so whatever I'm doing I must be strengthening them finally.

But I'm gonna go run in ten minutes.

Hey, a new thread! What happened to the old?

Where are the photos of Legolas?!?! You cannot post a thread without those! :-)

Maybe a picture of Miss Hair carrying ecurbh across the threshold?

Do a refresh on the thread header...

Can't Bay carry us both?

Jump up behind me my love
Jump up behind me
Old Bay can bear us both
Jump up behind me
We follow this road ’til we reach the sea
Jump up behind me
We’ll catch the tide and set dan free
Jump up behind me

Hah, very well done, Miss Hair! (I think using the horse is cheating, but have it your way).

Ugh, that was hard - not on my legs, but my abs! They hurt sooo much. I think I could have done much better if my abs didn't hurt.

Now I'm sore all over, combination of yesterday's weightlifting and this run. But... I had a beef on sourdough sandwich for dinner and I'm feeling better already.

If only we weren't getting 4-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.

BTW, Hair, nice new digs. But if we have to move every 5000... I say we start really, really posting so we have to move every three days and make 'em change the policy.

Just kidding! Let's be good houseguests... did anyone tell Destructor we'd moved?

I am pushing for at least 10,000.... I want to be a good guest, but if we are quiet, they won't notice us.

Did everyone come over here to get away from the jackelope? :) Or is the real reason the admins shut us down because were we getting too close to proving that the jackelope exists. . . [tinfoil on]

Hard. Yes. Very.

And I get soooo hot, which doesn't help. I almost think maybe I should turn the heat wayyyyy down before work and run in something colder than mid-sixties temperatures. I suppose I'll adjust as times goes on, though.

Going to make something peppersteak-like for dinner.

We're getting the end of several snowstorms, but hopefully only an inch or so. Southern VT may get more than six. If that makes you feel any better.

I like it!

Though what some of our more fastidious hole-dwellers will think of a horse in the house, I'm not sure! ;-)
