The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Ah, was wondering if it was an anti-protest protest, or a support the troops rally.

Evening, Ruthy! BTW, I was wrong last night: there is no loading in the white zone, not the red zone. The red zone is for unloading only. Would you like your ticket smoking or nonsmoking?

They don't know what is the matter with the kitty, but he has been to the vet three times in as many days. He won't eat, went almost six days. Big cats who don't eat will begin to digest their own liver and kidneys if they don't eat, so he is getting this high-protein paste with a syringe. Everything that comes out of either end of him is a yucky black color.
He's had blood tests and x-rays, they can't see anything. Monday he gets Barium I think to try to figure it out. Poor old cat is in his upper teens. I think Barium is harsh treatment indeed on the poor old guy!

WN: welcome back, glad to hear you had a good trip, solitude at the right times can be quite refreshing.

Today was absolutely gorgeous! Warm and sunny, but enough cloud cover and breeze to make it comfortable.
My sister and I took the kids to the County Fair today and I ate very naughty things like caramel apples, cinnamon rolls, cotton candy, pizza and shish-ka-bobs. *sigh*
Had a terrific time!

Smoking please! *grinning*Here you go, then! :) BTW, would you like to make a donation to the Hare Krishnas? Church of Scientology? Save the Whales?. . .

Barium? Whew! That is aggresive!
How strange that he would just up and stop eating like that. And the NutriCal paste is just going right through him from what you describe. Hmmm...
He couldn't have gotten into anything, could he? Can't be a blockage either since he's still pooping.
Is he neutered? Any history of urinary tract infections? Maybe bladder stones? Poor guy!

Pizza and shish-ka-bobs sounds good. I'm deciding what I'm going to have for supper. Burritos or guac and chips. LOL

Hair; thanks, those are great pics from the Rally and the flags were a super idea.
Really sorry to hear about Kitty. Hoping all goes well.

So, Joey--do you like movies about gladiators? :)

Shouldn't have bladder stones.... he's been getting the special care food forever...... and he is peeing normally (when he was drinking water) We forced water into him with a syringe too.
Don't know what it is.... His blood work and x-ray looked good. In fact, his blood work showed very good general health, especially for his age.
I don't know what they expect to find with Barium, and I can't imagine this cat can survive much of an illness or surgery.... We don't know how old he is but I have had him 15 years.

Really sorry to hear about Kitty. Hoping all goes well. It's funny, because my dad complains about this crabby old cat and how he harrasses Ramius's kitty, but he won't let me take him back here, says he is too old to move again. And he is going gangbusters on the vet trips and syringes and the paste and nursing him well. He cares about this kitty....
