The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yup, that's my school - the University of Arizona... I was thinkin' that was the one. Spent an aweful lot of time hangin' out there a few summers with my cousins. One of 'em taught there for a while in the Theater Arts area. He lives here now though. His roots called him home to Texas a few years ago..... actually, I think it had a lot to do with the girl who lived here that he'd had a crush on since high school. They've been married 10 years next month. :-)

Yep, I checked when I got home. The race wasn't on here ... or if it was, it was already over.

No, seriously, "The Princess Bride" is a hilarious cult-classic movie. Watch it some time - watch it with other people, some of whom having already seen it, if possible. It's one of those films.
"Inconcievable" is a reference. There are many quotable lines. Hang around here and you'll get more of them.
There are so many brilliant scenes... the logic duel, the fire-swamp, the wedding!

Yes, woods is good! I like it much better here than when I used to live in the city!
To: JenB
I saw it once a long time ago when my old roommate and his fiancee were watching it. I caught the gist, but was kind of in and out of the room so I didn't watch closely enough to pick up quotes. I do remember Andre the Giant was in it! :)

We did..... I am worn out.... sensory overload.
Went up to the beach house afterwards too..... to visit for a minute and to help force feed my dad's sick kitty.
To: ecurbh
What a great rally that looks like! Glad you made it. Were there many wackos?

2J... I wondered if you would want to send the pic of ecurbh and me with our flags to the Chaplain. Let him know we put them to good purpose. We were photographed and interviewed about them by The Olympian Newspaper that has covered these rallies so well in the past. If we end up in the paper tomorrow talking about them, I'll certainly let y'all know!

Pic of Me-n-fiance ecurbh at the rally. I want to make special mention of the flags he and I were holding today. Each were flown on different days from Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan before flying at our rally today.

To: ecurbh
Thanks for the pics and the good work! :) Looks like it was a pretty good-sized rally!

Nope, didn't really see any wackos... the rally was right outside the main gate of Fort Lewis, so its not an area they would hang out in.
