The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Miss Cat goes through a 7 pound box in 2 or 3 weeks. I usually get the 7 lb or the 14 lb box but I just had to go shopping at Petsmart. They didn't have the smaller boxes.
To: Overtaxed
Well, at least you won't have to buy that again anytime soon.
Uh-oh. Looks like we're about to get a thunderstorm. Rain has begun already.

It's nice here....highs in the 60's but we have a front coming through sometime. They're saying lows in the 20's (I'll have to bring in the spinach) and it'll only be in the 40's tomorrow.

We're going to be up to 50 today. Back down to 30 tomorrow, but then it starts getting warmer. Maybe by April we'll have nice weather.
Yeah. Sure.

See y'all tonight!

I need to flylady my room again, but I'm too bored to bother. I did just help clean up the kitchen... parents will be back tomorrow and they dislike messes.

For much of the mornin I was doing genealogy stuff. Elf-boy was in the back playin in the sandbox with beardog. He comes in the house (and up the stairs) with a bucket full of sand, "Mom, I have buried treasure!" I told him that was great but it needed to stay outside, and to take it and set it on the patio or put it back in the sandbox. He gets to the door, opens it and DUMPS the bucket of sand onto the carpet. ARGH! PE and I have spent the rest of the morning making elf-boy clean up his mess.
Now, he not only had to clean it up, but he is also grounded from his new sword and from the TV for the next few days.

To: msdrby
But did he find the treasure?
To: JenB
Afternoon, Hobbit Hole! Jen, you've got mail.
To: msdrby
Oh, no! I hope that cleans up okay!
BTW, what genealogy stuff are you doing? Our family did ours back to the 17th century recently, it was pretty interesting.

Good Afternoon; re: tire kicking, well, saved by a phone call, whew...
Yes LSA car's is need of replacement; a 1985 Pontiac 6000 STE, sigh. She has only had two cars since we got married, a 1970 Buick Skylark and the Pontiac. :-) Lots to consider but I digress...
RE: the 'saved by the phone call', it was Wayside Waifs, we can pickup the new member of our family later this afternoon. Gypsy is a 4 year old female rough coat collie mix (quite a bit of mix) so a new bed, collar, dog food and treats were required, which, unfortunately required going to a shopping - shudder - center, but it was for a good cause. :-)
