The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...

Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

But not yet weary are our feet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

And don't call me Shirley.

"Captain, how soon can you land?

"I can't tell."

"You can tell me, I'm a doctor."

"No, I mean I'm just not sure."

"Well, can't you take a guess?"

"Well, not for another two hours."

"You can't take a guess for another two hours?"

Looks like I picked the wrong time to quit sniffing glue!

"I have a call from the mayo clinic, and an emergency call for you on line five, from a Dr. Hamm."

"Alright, give me Hamm on five; hold the mayo."

Sometime, when the crew is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell them to get out there and give it all they've got--and win just one for the Zipper.

His first word was "Batman."

Excellent :-) Have a picture of me and my brother when I was 5 standing next to the Batmobile from the TV show--met Adam West then, too, and got him to sign my comic book :)

I don't want to ask how you know about Wonder Woman underoos.

Besides, she was kind of stupid, not a cool superhero.

OK, OK - point taken. JP is definitely the Hobbit, but Stevens' has that classic crooner voice that just curls the toes....
