If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guides we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I hope you can find the time to post some of your work at the Lair. Feather has picked up some talented new poets.

How you been?

This is from today. Its not pertinent. Well, actually, its impertinent...
Youre ... what?
 I have been called homophobic,
It isnt at all the case,
Though I do get adrenaline rushes,
When someone gets right in my face.
Im willing to live and let live,
But thats not enough for some guys.
 They dont understand my reaction,
And I want to open their eyes.
If you do what you want and say nothing,
Then you and I can be friends.
But your right to swing with your purses,
 Ends where my nose begins.
Please leave me alone with my problems,
Dont rev up my engine of rage.
 My temper is normally idle,
So dont let my clutch disengage.
If there is one thing about me,
HomOcidal is perhaps the right phrase.
Society says it dont trust me.
Thats why Im avoiding your gaze.

How sweet! I'm in a poem written by our resident expert.
 *applause*
Don't have much time so I'll just repost one I wrote about a year ago.
 What we are

Some drive trucks all shiny and new
For others, ones with rust and dents will do

Some work full time, 24 hour shifts each day
Some are on call or volunteer without any pay.

We all see the same things when going on a call.
Whether it's medicals, rescues or fires in a hall.

"My Daddy's a fireman" we here our kids say.
"Bring him home safe" is what our wives pray.

The tones sounds, pagers beep, or the Bells ring
We're off in a flash knowing just one thing.

We'll go where we're called and do what we're told
and continue to do it, until we've grown old.

The Good Lord looks over us from high above.
and gives us strength to do what we love.

    Hi Johnny!!

So nice to have you around. I like this poem.

I meant to ping you a couple of weeks ago. One of our rural Volunteer Companies lost a man.

It was a terrible accident, he was crushed between two trucks. He was so young. The number of Fire Companies that come out for his funeral was amazing.

So sad for everyone in the Fire Companies.

True bigots and other narrow-minded shallow thinkers may walk among us, but most have been silenced by public disdain.
When they get in their groups, or in their cups, their feelings volubly surface.

But the only racists I've encountered recently are Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and others of their ilk, who have the effrontery to tell "their own people" that they cannot compete on a level playing field, and that it has to be tilted in their favor for them to win. What gall, what contempt, what RACISM!

Hmmm, I just remembered...

 . . . . . . . . . What Its All About

Its all about keeping the black voter down.
He thinks hes informed cause hes living in town.
He doesnt quite get that theyre teaching him wrong,
Hes shucking and jiving and singing their song.

Hes told that old whiteys in charge all the way,
In keeping him stuck in a job with low pay.
He couldnt do better, without help it seems,
From political actors, and entitlement schemes.

One hopes hell wise up, and step out in this land,
Where the rest of us know where to find a good hand,
At the end of an arm we keep close beside us,
Cause we dont have ol Jesse to teach us and guide us.

Weve learned that you sell what youve learned how to do,
And you cant make a dime if your skills are too few.
We saw others working on dreams as a rule,
With items they picked up while going to school.

But their Spokesmen tell them Learn your histories well!
Cause the future belongs to the ones who do well,
At feeling quite proud for no reason at all,
Except for their skills with the town basketball.

My Brother has fallen

My Brother has fallen; no, I don't know his name.
Have not the same parents still family all the same.
He lives in this town, I live in another,
It doesn't really matter 'cause this man is my Brother.
My Brother I call him, yet I've never seen his face.
I have brothers and sisters all over the place!
You see I am a Firefighter and our families are one.
Around the world, a brotherhood of unity,
A closeness, a bond, most people don't see.
I'll watch his back; She'll watch mine,
"You go, I go," time after time.
His family's my family, Her family theirs,
We're part of one family where everyone cares,
I'll look after your kids, please look in on my wife,
Should that day finally come when I laid down my life.
We dedicate our lives helping our fellow man,
Living day after day doing all that we can,
Where ever we're needed whether nighttime or day,
To save the life of another we'll step in harms way.
My Brother has fallen doing what he loved best,
And among the Honored, he now stands with the rest
For a mile in dress uniform here everyone stands,
For my Brother has fallen, God into your hands.
