The title is : To Be of Use...by Marge Piercy..
The beginning:
"The people I love the best
jump into work head first
without dallying in the shallows
and swim off with sure strokes almost out of sight."
Isn't that fitting?? For lysie , who snowblows her driveway...climbs onto roofs...fixes the plumbing AND her computer...
Only it goes on to compare such people, and lysie, IMO, to water buffalo "who strain in the mud"...oxen tied " to a heavy cart.."
You see my problem? Sigh...it's just not quite the thing, altho the idea is great....
AND it ends well, too:
"The pitcher cries for water to carry
and a person for work that is real."
lysie, this poem made made me think of you, but I'm not wild about the water buffalo part...:-))
Better than a wart hog
LOL
Molly, I like the poem. You are right....it's me...I used to play football with the guys like that...put my head down and plow..LOL
MIL is to stay with us a longer. The doctor did not like the way she appeared to be unsteady on her feet.
