My 8 year old is doing his book report tomorrow on a biography of George W Bush. He is going to dress up in a suit and tie and play the part of Bush. There were funny moments while reading with him like the time that he asked me why George Bush was President if he had a "run-in with the law" (it was a silly fraternity prank and very funny at that).
At the end of his presentation will be a time for Q&A. One of the questions that is almost always asked is "If you could change anything about yourself, what would that be?" Any ideas??
By the way, this is at a public school in Southern Cal in a VERY liberal area. I am going to watch with pride tomorrow morning.

Bush needs to change his position on illegal immigration, for the good of both the nation's economy and security.

Does he want a serious answer or a funny one? If serious, I agree with Post #2. If funny, he could say something like, "I wish I could stop eating pretzels," or "I wish I could learn to say words like 'subliminable.'"

I would say he probably would not have waited so long to get his life straightened out. He would have followed Christ and quit drinking sooner.

Good ideas on all, but maybe something that won't start a ruckus in the classroom. Remember, 3rd grade...

He would have followed Christ and quit drinking sooner. What was it that Christ was drinking at Cana, and at the Last Supper?
Christ was drinking wine most all of his life.

Historically speaking, no, not really. ;-)

Christ was drinking wine most all of his life. True, but Christ was not an alcoholic, as GWB has admitted to being. What is a weakness for one may not be for another.
To: Hootch
His attempts to be both a (less government, lower taxes) conservative and a (high spending, more entitlements, drop the borders) liberal.

True, but Christ was not an alcoholic That's because he had the good sense to just stick with the Gallo hearty burgundy...it's the wafers that'll kill ya.

Let's remember that we're dealing with an eight year old mind here.
You wrote ... He would have followed Christ and quit drinking sooner.
... which specifically says that Christ quit drinking.
Christ didn't stop drinking, so it should be made clear (especially to that eight year old) that you've used Christ to take a cheap shot at President G.W. Bush.

you've used Christ to take a cheap shot at President G.W. Bush. I believe that you are reading something into my statement that I have never suggested and would never suggest. I have heard President Bush associate the end to his drinking with his acceptance of Christ as his Savior. Following Christ gave him the strength and courage it took to overcome his bad drinking habits which were destructive to his family and his own well-being. President Bush has called following Jesus as very positive turning point in his life. I would assume that he would have made that choice sooner if he could.
I'm sorry that you would read my post and believe that I would a) use Christ to take a cheap shot at anyone or b) take a cheap shot about a serious addiction. Neither could be further from the truth and that is not the spirit with which I posted to this thread. Please forgive me if the manner of my phrasing has offended you.
