We have been seriously spoiled by Really Good Preaching - which is why we drive an hour to church. I used to have the habit of not paiyng attention in sermons, but I've lost it since we started this church. I know it's bad but... well... sitting there for forty-five minutes of preaching and thinking, "I could be doing this, I could be doing that" is a really bad attitude for church.
The thirty minutes of singing, prayers, etc doesn't quite make up. Why couldn't we have the really terrific guy instead of the really adequate one?

45 minutes is an awful long sermon. But usually even a really bad sermon raises a topic which I can find interesting enough to daydream about. Or if not sometimes I will just take the opportunity to practice meditating--can always think about breathing if there's nothing else to do.
