Some older people seem to have a "I've lived long enough, the world owes me" attitude. Including most of my grandparents. I try to like older people, because a lot of them are great and have wonderful stories to tell, but unfortunately most of the ones I know now are the sort you've been encountering.

I've been lucky - have plenty older friends that are wonderful, friendly, generous people! But I've met people like you mention, too, 2J. People that just glare if you smile while getting out of their way at the grocery, and who constantly tell you how to run your life and that if you don't follow their rules, you aren't a good person.
Sorry you had a rough day!
Be back in a bit.

but unfortunately most of the ones I know now are the sort you've been encountering. They must be Democrats, like the one 2J encountered during the Voter Registration drive. They DO feel like since they've lived all this time WE owe it to them to cover all their needs.
