The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Yep. Those are from that movie.
The radio station in the movie is KVET also. Doc goes into the offices there in the movie and one of their DJ's - don't know if he's still there - Sammy was in it.

Going to have to look for a video of that movie, I think.

Could you please pass along some info to Jeanne for me? She mentioned she might be able to help find some replacement light bulbs for the microscope we bought this year. It is an Olympus KHC 224585, and the bulb is a round one, with the following markings:Olympus 120V 20W GB Made in Japan. It has a bayonet mount, and behind the filament is a reflector that is a silvered circular area on the inside surface of the bulb.
If she could locate such an animal we'd probably want to buy several! Tell her thanks, for me!!

Cool post number here.

I'm watchin' it right now. Could ya guess? You made me think of it.
It ain't some mental exercise type entertainment or anything. Just kinda red-neck humor. Lots of good one-liners though.
Kinda a lot of memories with this movie for me cause of bein' there. And as Jill grew up we watched this movie on a regular scedule almost. She's got one of those minds that just memorizes everything. At the time, I could recite a lot of it too. We'd cut up around the house with her doing Doc's lines and me doing Blackie's. To this day when she comes home she will throw out lines to me to start that up again. .... only thing is, I don't remember my parts anymore... but I fake it. She'll correct me though. It's a lot of good family laughs for us.
I am sure it would not be that cool for anyone else. :-)

Did they have lots of camera shots of Austin? Would like to see what the town looked like back then.
By the way, we tied on the post times for that last post. Cool!

Just finished vacuuming the living room...I'm all Flylady-ed up for the weekend!

There is a cosmotology school nearby! A friend suggested it and I intend to look in to it. Maybe I could get my hair cut there too? It hasn't been cut in well over a year...maybe almost 2 years.
I would just want an trim...tidy it up a bit. I don't think I want my hair short anymore.
What would reasonable prices be? What can I expect to pay?

By the way, we tied on the post times for that last post. Cool!Whoa! That's pretty weird. Like being 2 places at once! LOL
There are a few shots of Austin but not many. Back then I worked for the Lakeway MUD. They used one of the homes there for some of the shots. I recognized those. And they did one of downtown where I-35 goes over Town Lake and it looked VEY different back then. The Opry House is in there also.
If you know very much about Willie Nelson you will recognize some autobiographical stuff in there. It is not an autobiographical movie but there are definitely some things taken from his real life. Funny too.

That sounds like what I'm looking for...I do like the buffed shine though...is that included usually? In a regular manicure?
Seriesly, when my nails are buffed, they don't seem to split as easily.
All of this is like a sudden revelation to me, having done nothing more to my nails than clip them. But Steve gave me a manicure set and I have been experimenting with it. I did the buffing business and noticed right away that my nails quit splitting and I didn't have anything pick on...
But I hated do it...what a bald-faced hassle.

At our cosmotology school it is $8 for a pedicure or manicure. (I get a faculty discount so I get those lucsious pedicures that I love for $6!) If you are satisfied with the manicure or pedicure though try to tip the kids, they need it!
The nail salon I use charges $15 for a natural manicure if I remember correctly. Aside from caring for your nail and cuticle work you also get a softening lotion massaged into your hands. I don't get that massage part when I get acrylics. I like that part. But, I like my acrylic nails too. LOL
Ramius like my nails too. They scratch backs well! LOL
Call around. Find out what the going rate is. When I moved up here from Waco I called. Prices vary greatly! Now, I pay a little more than the lowest price for my nails (not much more) because the lady that does it does such a fabulous job. If you go one place and don't like what they do then go to another one for the next Mother's Day or birthday. I tried 3 places before I found one I'm sticking with.
So, how was the party?

That sounds like what I'm looking for...I do like the buffed shine though...is that included usually? This is a question to ask when you call the places. And make sure they know you want that included. Tell 'em you don't want polish too... they will assume if you want a manicure you want polish cause that's why most people get a manicure. They may even try to put on a clear coat. But, if you don't want it - TELL EM!
Lots of the places will have Asians with accents that are hard to understand. If they seem to have trouble understanding what you are saying I think you ought to write them off. They may not give you what you really want.

If you walked in my house right now you would understand my fear of flylady!
It's all cluttered. I finally unpacked a HUGH box of photographs from moving. (been here 2 years ya know) I don't understand how one box of stuff has managed to clutter up 3 rooms! But, I've been hanging photos and I dragged out a lot of boxes of photographs that need to be put in albums or boxes to get organized. I haven't done that since I moved up here and I take a LOT of photos. They are lying loose all over my den, dining room and bedroom. UGH!

It was nice!
Thanks for the tips. I'm practically manicure savvy now! I found out Walmart charges $12 for a regular manicure.
Better go...Steve will be home any minute!
