The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

As to the conspiracy thing... I'm sure you're right, please put down the flamethrower and give me the knives before anyone gets hurt.

but guys who ride ~horses~ in kilts definately do ~not~ We're *all* thankful for that. Especially the horse.

we love the cheap accommodations, cheap transportation, and low pay... besides... they're easy to mock...
had a young feller ask me about joinin' the service... wanted to know what I recommended... join the Marines to fight... otherwise, go in the Coast Guard, cuz they're doing their job every single day... not just trainin' endlessly...
To: HairOfTheDog
Perhaps I shouldn't ask... but how do you know?
Good evening...
To: JenB; Fedora

To: Ramius

Personally, I lean toward a larger and somewhat lighter and fluffier "Wheat thin" algorithm for Lembas.Hmmm, interesting. . .there is some evidence of a connection between Wheat Thins and elves, via Sandy Duncan as Peter Pan. . .

Just common sense.... I know a little about chaffing... ;~D

Good advice.
I joined the Coast Guard mainly because I grew up around boats and had always looked up to those guys. The CGC Point Glass was the 82' patrol boat in my neck of the woods at the time... and they were always out doing cool stuff.
But you're right in that the CG has a day to day peacetime mission.
It's unfortunate that the fighting forces are too often viewed as a pain in the ass in peacetime. Right up until the country needs y'all to go kick some ass someplace. Then we get all appreciative again. I can't even express my anger at the Xlinton admin for chopping the heart out of DOD budgets in the 90s.
Some of us don't forget about it in between wars...
