The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, the lady faxed me a copy this afternoon - so it should be there on time. Which is why I asked her to fax it, I wanted to make sure it got done!
I don't yell at people unless it's their fault. I'm a polite, calm, person - unless I have to pull a 2J and tell them to blow it out their shorts.
Which I came close to doing in class today, got stuck working in a group with Mr Lazy, Dirty-Mouthed, Foul-Minded Jerk-Boy!

Putting eye medicine in a cat's eye is hard enough. I'm lucky in that I've never had to give any of them oral medication...but sounds like that may change when Cleo comes home. I had a hard enough time getting her in the carrier!Good luck if you have to give her oral medication :) I tell ya, I didn't even need to workout after that, I got wore out just feeding my cat! :)

I think it's registrar's office folks.Sometimes I had problems with the registrar's office because it was mostly run by student employees who didn't have much experience with the paperwork and didn't know how to change mistakes in the computer.

WN cheated in class tonight. I gave the class a pop quiz and asked 'em if they wanted that for their daily grade and to leave now (last class before spring break) or if they wanted to do this complex orthographic drawing.
They're all gone now. Pop quiz was a happy thing for 'em today. Headed south toward Lone Star Moot now!!!
PQ - since I am leaving this early I am not stopping for the night in Meridian, I'm going all the way to Cheryl and Lynn's... so I will be at your house in plenty of time tomorrow! See ya 'bout 11!

Yeah, in my writing class we usually have some sort of group exercise (which bugs me; writing is the most intensely personal thing I do). Anyway, today one of my partners was this jerk who kept going on about sex or dirty jokes or anything except the exercise we were doing.
Oh well. Personally I want to get as much as I can out of every class - and sometimes that's more than the professor puts in to it - but I guess some people, who are there on Daddy's money (don't get me started about she-who-must-die-horribly! another writing classmate who is seriously convinced the sun rises on her every morning) or is taking loans. I count myself fortunate that I've had to work for this!

Have fun, but don't dawdle coming back with that Lone Star Moot report!

My school has this problem of "no office will talk to any other office". It's a tiny, tiny school - 2000 students max - and all the administrative offices are on the same floor, even, but the registrar's office won't talk to the billing office, who won't talk to financial aid, and nobody talks to the faculty advisors...
I will probably be facing more of this nonsense in grad school, but at least there, they'll be paying me rather than vice versa.

Well, rats! :~\ I hope that unplanned expense doesn't cause ~big~ problems for you! - Have you sealed the fate on the guitar yet? ;~D I'm trying not to think about it, but could be.
Dad loaned me some money without my asking...one of my siblings musta tattled. That will help some. I'm still fretting, though. They gave me an estimate, but there were a lot of "if this part goes well..." kinda statements. Makes me nervous.

How much is the estimate? Couple hundred bucks? Removing the lump is usually a relatively quick surgery, no matter what it is. What all are they saying?
To: RosieCotton; Bilbo Bagpipes
Is Bilbo lurking? Maybe he saw you - whoever it was, good on them!
Remember, spring is coming. Once it starts getting green agian, I always feel at least a little less worried. Of course, tomorrow we get snow, so spring could be coming later rather than sooner...

Did they do a needle aspiration of it today?
To: HairOfTheDog
It's not a huge amount. He said anywhere up to ninety for the surgery itself, then some for anesthesia, teeth cleaning if they're able to do that, analysis of the lump, and possibly a hospital stay. And antibiotics afterward. Total would probably be a couple hundred, yeah.

Did you get your Entmoot refund yet? That should help a little... or did you use it on other bills?
I'm going to splurge with part of mine and get my hair done nicely this weekend. I've got good hair, it just needs a little help.

No, they didn't. I was going to ask, but he seemed worried enough about how fast it had come up and something to do with the shape that I figured I'd better do the surgery...and they could do it then. I suppose I could ask about that, though.

Amazing they can get that much interdepartmental disconnect in a school with 2000 students! That sounds frustrating. Well, at least you'll be done with it soon! :)
To: JenB
I did get it! Yeah, that'll help...though I was planning to use it to repair Van-sama - partially, at least. The windshield can wait.
Margaret is trying to get me to give her a good chunk of it, though. I paid for the actual stay, though...so I think I should be allowed to keep it. She paid for her plane ticket and part of the deposit.
Plus I need it more. *whine*

Yes, but it's a Catholic (in name more than substance), private, liberal arts school. There's lots of ways for them to get messed up, plus on top of the government regulations are their own private regulations....
I'm going home. Look to see a critique plus something else, within an hour or two.
