The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I might name it "Bob the Dark Lord, Ruler of All Evil, Master of the Cosmos", though.

J.R. "Bob" Dobbs

High Epopt

Living Slack Master

PRAISE "BOB"

I started lurking around the time of the election, too. Took me a year to jump in, which I did partly because of LOTR movie talk. Most of the regulars on those threads ended up here! It's amazing how it's evolved.

The Hobbit Hole is worse (but cheaper) than anime...

I'm the same way, I post on a few threads, now and then, if I have something to say. Here, though, I'll post even if I haven't got a clue what I'm talking about.

That's interesting... I lurked for a couple of years purely because I found that FR had about the best up-to-the-minute news on just about everything. I think I started reading it soon after it started up.

But for me it was the hideous gonzo Y2K panic posts that finally pushed me over the edge. I had to register in order to post replies to the nutballs that thought the whole world was gonna come crashing in on Y2K. My FR birthday was 12-30-99. By then it was so off the charts I just couldn't take any more.

Had to jump in and yell about how *nothing* was going to happen.

Say Hair... any chance it was a Mink?

It was way too little, aren't mink about the size of our river otters? seriously only as big as a chipmunk or small squirrel, just loooooooonger. and brown on top white underneath.... like this one sortof.

And it was ruthlessly brave coming back and ready to re-attack the rabbit that was 4X it's size with us and the dog standing there on the other side of the fence. Dangedest thing I ever saw here!

Oh, I don't think you've heard about Bob the Dark Lord before. My own personal Dark Lord. He's kind of pathetic. Makes every mistake on the list. He's kind of a cross between Al Gore and Dudley Doright.

LOL! Yeah...I'm soooo worried about getting my wording right on other threads and you're far more likely to be attacked for things you say. So usually I just watch and let the "experts" do the talking...or the ones who are less sensitive to bashing than I am.

My one weakness is the marriage / women / single folk threads. I shouldn't post on those, but do. It's always the same three or four guys that cause those thread to devolve into them crying on one another's' shoulders and agreeing that all women are out to ruin men's lives and bring down society. Sigh. And yet I still post to them. Duh. I should know better.

I mostly lurk when it comes to the "outside world" of FR...

I'm finding myself inclined to do that. I prefer to stay in the Shire and avoid adventures, though I'll admit I've ventured as far as the edge of the Old Forest from time to time :)

I used to read the "New Zealander Builds a Hobbit Hole" thread back then--had no idea it eventually went here 'til I asked 2Jedismom about it :)

The white belly would make it a not-mink I would suppose, if it is what you have it pictured there then... and I don't think ferrets have that coloring either.

Looks like ya gots a weasel. Nothing a .22 couldn't handle. It's perfectly OK to decide which varmints you like and which ones you don't like. It's OK. :-)

They're not?? Dang. Want some anectodal evidence?? :-)

I am not sure I will ever see it again.... and if I did have to shoot it (not sure why I would if it is a rodent-eater) I think the shotgun would be the only thing with a chance of hitting it. The little bugger was tiny, and really fast!

Well...I'd agree that there ARE bad, man-hating, man-abusing gals out there...but they'll tell FReeper gals to their face that they are just WAITING to do the same thing, if they can only get their claws into a poor unsuspecting sucker. Yeah...like I honestly stay up nights scheming how I can get some rich dope to marry me so I can have a couple of kids and then rip his heart out and take him for all he's worth. Not.

I'd like to think there IS good in the world, thank you very much. In both sexes. And there are bad examples of both, too. T'ain't just we wimmin.

[sigh] I keep believing that too. For some reason. It's a fool's hope, but it is hope. :-)

Speak fer yerself... I plan on having at least two hearts in cases on my wall by the time I'm 30. Then I'll drop the kids with their father and keep taking the child support while I live with dope-smoking boyfriends.

Hmm--sounds like a different Bob--I guess there must be more than one evil Bob!

Oh, there are many Bobs in this world, and not all are evil. Just most of them.
