The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Oh no! But I know how you feel. I would walk in the house when I had Terra and one look at her face, I'd know. She would be looking all sad and woebegone, you know? And sure 'nough.
Well, they are just beasts and we're only human. If she gets it right most the time and you get it right most the time, well, that's pretty good.

I suppose they don't have real libraries in VT, do they? So you can't even request new books...

I just wish she'd had the goodness to have an accident on the FLOOR instead of into a cushion...and preferrably not when I had company! Grrrr...
But she HAS been good lately. It's my fault, really. But I still wish she'd been more insistant about needing to go out!

I can request some. I think the regular library (not the college one) has a pretty extensive intralibrary loan service. I haven't been there in years, though...sad, I know!
But I can always go trade in some books again at the bookstore if I get desperate. ;-) That does of course depend on the whim of the shop owner, but sometimes he gives me a pretty penny for what I bring in! Enough to pick up a goodly number of new (to me) books, in any case!

Reminds me of the time Matthew ate a bunch of mac and cheese, then barfed all over the chair cushion. Foam rubber. Sigh. I unzipped the cover and washed it in the machine, figured what the heck. The I took the foam rubber (it only got on one end) and put it in sudsy water in the tub and then stamped it like I was stamping grapes! Just stamped and stamped. Then did the same thing with rinse water. Over and over till no more suds came out. Then stamped and stamped it between towels till hardly any water came out. Stuck it back in the wet cover and let it dry out for days...
It was work, but it did a good job!

I'm not sure of the origin of the term, but from my understanding it is a suggestion that a person is of a mixed lineage. Like saying you have a skeleton in the closet, or some other secret in your past. the context the senator used it makes no sense, except as a really nasty insult. I think he did mean to say fly in the ointment. In that case, the guy is nuts as well as a bigot, and needs severe counseling, and medication too. And a boot.

I should probably do that to the cushion....but I'll more likely be lazy and just wash the surface of the foam somewhat...it didn't soak in too much. The cover is in the machine now, along with my brother's coat, which got the brunt of it. And I can always Fabreeze the cushion!

Well, try the library. That should help.
It's ten, I'm going to bed. Really long day tomorrow, eight hours at one place, then drive to the office for two or three hours there... oh well... got my homework for Thursday done.

When Matthew barfed, he was sitting on my lap...he was probably 5 years old. It got me most of all, down the side of my lap and onto the side cushion.
I chastised him soundly (and he laughs about it to this day) because many of the mac and cheese noodles didn't even have a tooth mark in them, they were WHOLE! He ate too much, too fast, with too much Sprite.
Nobody's gonna want to sit in that chair at Footmoot! LOL

Good night!
I'm going to finish my tea and then go to bed, too. But I still have a good amount. *sip*
Sleep well! See you tomorrow morning!

Hey! We need to start "NetBooks." Just like "Netflix" but for books!

I would like that! I would like that a LOT!

It's snowing here, too. 4-9 inches, they say. Hope it's just four or so. But I'm planning on shoveling in the morning!
To: JenB
Sleep tight, get comfy warm, sleep well
in morning you will wake and tell
us sleepy dreams delightedly
And bring on smiles from them, and me
while breakfasting on toast and tea

Whenever it snows enough here to shovel, I use a barn scraper. Steve found it on the road and for the few inches we get, it works pretty good!
I didn't even know what it was for a long time, but knew it made a good snow shovel!

I don't know how ya'll stand it all winter. It is like fifty or something here and I'm freezing. I have on 2 pair of socks, and my feet are still so cold I want to put them in a bath of hot water.
