The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I like Sean Connery!

No, it was some Academy Awards guy, and at first he was going all nuts over how great Hollywood is. Not his age but his talk made him an old coot.

Besides, there are lots of great older people. Most of them just aren't at the Oscars tonight. Hollywood isn't a real place anyway.

Adapted Screenplay! This one really honors Tolkien himself, IMO.

Nah, Mordor's more real than Hollywood.

Let the LotR people talk as long as they like, they're real people! They're old and they're cool...

OT; The Flint Hills of Kansas are a beautiful stretch of bluestem prairie, limestone outcrops, oak thickets along streams, rolling hills to the horizon, with minimal signs of human intrusion.
Easily reached, I-35 from KC to Wichita, Chase County is in the heart of it.

William Least Heat Moon wrote of the country in Prairie Earth, an excellent read, each chapter is based on what is going on in an area on a single USGS Quad Map,quite effectively done.

The ranchers, and Konza Indians before them, burned off the old grass and new sprouted, in the old days, bringing in the Buffalo herds, now cattle from Texas are trucked up here to get a decent meal. Unlike the Ozarks, the fires are set under proper conditions and are a necessity to the continuance of the bluestem prairie ecosystem.

It is truly a magificent sight at night, lines of fire rolling across the prairies.

Nails, sure, not sure about the hair...

There's someone over on the Oscar thread who's reminding me of Mr. Albino Ectomorph; Hair, who was that again?
