The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Maybe! Don't know anyone off-hand 'round here, but there is lots of time for this.
When I get the camera back I'll take a picture of what's here, and see.
If it isn't a bouquet of these flowers (which are pink and white dogwood, and some other blue stuff) I would probably like a bouquet of all one thing. I like that look.

Popcorn sounds like a good idea...but I'm skipping the oscars this year.
Hope our guys do well!

He has only just now been told that we are watching this ALL DAY.
I will do the best I can to make it fun!

Well, I like the idea of using the ones from your mom. If I were in your shoes I don't think I would care about the color or the type of flowers - I would want them because of *mom.* I am horrible about sentiment. Remember I carried Grama's bathrobe to entmoot so I would have something of her there. *sigh*
I also like all one color and kind of flower though if we leave off the sentimentality.
Personally, I have a thing for white flowers. I love an all-white arrangement of any kind - but especially roses. Dennis used to laugh because I like 2 kinds of bouquets - wildly bright, varied and colorful or all white. In between doesn't do as much for me. Except, that somewhere along the line he picked up the habit of sending me huge bouquets of white roses with one gorgeous red rose. He would always have them arranged or presented differently. *THOSE* were just the thing for him to get squeals of delight out of me. I never got tired of 'em!

I know what you mean... long build-up, and a quick pay-off. I remember the first time I read "The Naked God", as I got near the end I was thinking, "No way is he going to tie up all the loose threads in the number of pages left!" But I was wrong...

Am trying to figure out if Joan and Melissa are going to come on here so I can watch it with you. Haven't figured that out yet.

We got the chicken coop moved yesterday. I was feeling kinda bad, because it was POURING down rain today and couldn't get out there to move the fence, so the chickens had to stay in the coop (which they would've done anyways, what with the pouring rain.)
But the weather has cleared! When Steve comes home, we'll repositin the fence.
We made a new base...the coop is 2' taller, so I don't have to stoop so to get in to it...I just have to step big and then I can stand up inside it "almost"...just barely have to dip my head a bit.
Anyway, the new base is just made out of scrap wood we had, but we bought a piece of that white plastic lattice. It's REALLY cute!
I'll post a picture when we get it all straightened...it's not tidy because we ran out of time yesterday before dark.

Heh, yes, exactly! Is that just his style, or did he write the books that way on purpose, I wonder?

He has only just now been told that we are watching this ALL DAY. He may need to escape outdoors as necessary... or put on his headphones and listen to some tunes.
To: ecurbh
I'm going outside! See you guys later!

Is that Joan in the Hobbit Hole doorway?
To: JenB
Well, his series of books featuring Greg Mandel ("Mindstar Rising", "A Quantum Murder", and "The Nano Flower") were not in that style; but they were more science fiction mysteries, so that may have made a difference. His stand-alone book "The Fallen Dragon" was more in the style of the Night's Dawn trilogy, although it was not set in the same universe. It also ended with an old SF cliche, but he did it stylishly enough that I didn't mind!

Is that Joan in the Hobbit Hole doorway?Yup! Hair made me do it!
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Heh, yes, you can get away with a lot if you've got style!
I'm taking my car to get the oil changed now. See you later!

My plumbing is slightly leaking under the house again in the same place it completely burst last summer. A different pipe just the same place under the house. There are 4 pipes under there. So far this has happened to 2 other ones. Through there are 4 pipes each of them have multiple joints. I am thinking this may be my aging home issue here at this house.
I just found this. Slow spray from a joint. Will be calling the plumber again tomorrow morning. *sheesh*
