Rush is an absolute disgrace. I've lost ALL respect for the junkie. He only got concerned when he got caught, and not a minute sooner. Too bad more conservatives don't feel the same way. There is absolutely no excuse for his getting involved with such unsavory people and with such disgusting behavior. What a horrible icon for the right! Now we get to say, "Yeah-but, the other guy did it worse." Or any other "Yeah-buts" that I've heard. Can't look at him or listen to him anymore with any respect.

I've turned to Hannity, Michael Medved, and Drudge for moral compassing.

Spoken like a novice in life. If you could take a long time deacon of a church, who was an Eagle scout, with no driving citations, etc.-a pillar of society-and addict him to alcohol, heroin, pain-killers, whatever, you can turn him into a thieving, lying good-for-nothing in no time at all. This is the nature of substance addiction. You AND I are not immune from this trap either.

Rush took pain killers to the point of addiction. The addiction then took Rush. In time, the addiction would have taken his marriage, his relationships, livelihood and his life. My compassion is out for anyone addicted to drugs, regardless of their political stripe. Let us see what you have to say, when addiction takes someone close to you.

Junkies only do get concerned when they get caught, it is the nature of addiction. That is where the saying "bottoming out" came from.

I have known addicts to lose homes, families, fortunes and friendships. Many are very good people. People who have it all like Rush have a greater handicap because they can get by with it much, much longer than the average Joe because of their money. The drugs derange your mind - don't the first thing they always say goes is your judgement?

I know one man who had it all - a paid off house in a wealthy area, a business, two beautiful children and a lovely wife. By the time his addiction finished with him he was living out of a car with nothing. Only then did he go for help.

I live with chronic back pain, I know how easy it is to get addicted. I would never judge a person who was addicted to prescription pain killers harshly.

You sound so intolerant of personal weaknesses. The fact that the man failed in one aspect of his life does not--repeat, does not--take away all the good he did, and continues to do.

Fine, but be warned, sooner or later everyone will do something that will let you down. If everyone were defined only by their worst moments the world would be an ugly place.

"I've turned to Hannity, Michael Medved, and Drudge for moral compassing."

Did you see Medved on O'Reilly the other night? He actually said that "A Beautiful Mind" was not liberal and won awards simply because it was a great movie. Okay, Medved, if you say so.

I've lost all respect for Medved. At least Rush, despite being an unforgivable junkie in your eyes, still knows obvious liberalism when he sees it. Medved seems to be a bit of a simpleton in this regard.

Sounds like you should turn to Al Franken (when his new show opens), CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and NPR.

This is indeed, incorrect. Rush checked himself into rehab twice before to help with his addiction. He tried to do this without interrupting his career and dedication to hi fans. It, unfortunately, was unsuccessful. It was when he got "caught" that he was able to "fully" get help and take an extended leave to do it.

Understand your attitude about Rush, although I find it a bit harsh. What I do not understand is turning to Hannity. To me he is nothing more than a media opportunist with limited intellect.

I'm sure someone of your viewpoint would have demoted and fired Churchill, Patton, and McArthur for drinking, cursing, and arguing with superiors (respectively) too. Of course, had narow narrow thinking such as yours prevailed then, we would be be slaves or lampshades now. Brilliant.

At the heart of conservatim are Judeo-Christian values and one of the primary values is that men are fallible and that forgiving others is a requirement for being forgiven. Those others you mention are mere men, also. Sooner or later they will dissapoint you, too. Once you have become disillusioned with them, are you just going to search out someone else and hope that THEY rise up to your lofty requirements?

Hannity drives a huge SUV. A Cadillac I think.
Are you sure you want to turn to Hannity for moral compassing?
;-)

We value ideas. Rush presents the Conservative ideas the best.

clinton is an absolute disgrace.
Rush is a man with a problem and my guess is...the problem is fixed.
Now...if Rush cheated while playing golf.....that would be an absolute disgrace!

I'm not able to catch Rush every day, but yesterday I did. He went into the tabloid claims of drug trafficking, his maid's providing pills, etc. and a lot more. He said the maid had come to him and said she and her husband would go to the tabloids and say he was dealing drugs unless he paid them $4 mill. He talked this over with some advisers, didn't say who, and they said, Oh, my God, pay what they want. If the tabloids print this stuff, your life is kaput. So he paid the maid for a while, then decided what the hell, I'm not doing this. The maid and her husband went to the tabloids, got a big payday, and also lied to the cops about Rush and his addiction. Plus they got immunity from prosecution! The D.A. in that county was eager to get Rush on something, anything. The tabloids ran with the lies, and he's been battling ever since. Rush detailed more about the person in the prosecutor's office, or D.A.'s office who'd leaked lies to the press. Even the so called plea bargain letters are not what they appear to be. The D.A. called Rush's lawyer and said his office was innundated with emails from county dem. residents who wanted Rush nailed. The D.A. asked how Rush would feel about maybe a plea bargain. Rush's lawyer responded with a letter saying What are you offering? Then the D.A. said, only if you plead guilty to a felony and released Rush's lawyer's letter claiming Rush was angling for a deal. His website, Rushlimbaugh.com, has probably detailed all this and more. His explanation makes sense. He's being crucified in public. Private medical records being released to the D.A. illegally, and if it can happen to him, it can happen to you and me. Forget any gripes you may have with Rush, in this country, we're supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty, and Rush hasn't even been charged with a crime. As to pain addiction, most people don't take pain killers because they want to get high and ruin their lives. They want surcease from unrelenting, horrible pain. Listen to what he has to say and then make up your minds. I suspect that in the end, he'll sue Palm Beach county for big bucks and never be charged with a crime. Sorry for the length, but didn't see this mentioned anywhere and thought it was important.

Those three are men, too - expect the same.

You don't need men for moral compassing.

You need their Creator.
