I saw a sampler in W. Virginia once, that seemed to have been done by someone who didn't get very far in school. I remember looking at it for a while before realizing it was a handmade copy of the 'the hurrier I go, the behinder I get.' sentiment. But the words were misspelled and the letters misshapen.

It was encouraging and saddening at the same time.

Rather like listening to our public school teachers describe their bright hopes for our children's future.
