Prayer Request
Self
Posted on 01/12/2004 5:18:50 PM PST by giznort
I just found out today that I have a 5" mass on my right ovary and am very scared. The doctor said it COULD be ovarian cancer, but it's not certain and she didn't want to scare me (too late). I would very much appreciate your prayers as I will be headed for surgery very soon for removal of the mass (hopefully performed by an OB-oncologist). Thank you and God bless you, as I truly believe in the power of prayer.

I went through the same thing in 1997. My OB/GYN did a sonogram on me and said that I either had ovarian cancer on my left ovary or what they call a 'chocolate tumor', which looks the same as ovarian cancer on the sonogram. He said he wouldn't be able to tell for sure until my surgery. I had to wait a week for the surgery (had to get personal things in order first). I was so scared and left it in God's Hands. When I woke up from the surgery, they then told me that it was, in fact, a 'chocolate tumor'. I had to have a total hysterectomy due to that and also uterine fibroid tumors. You'll be in my prayers. God bless you. Please keep us updated.

When I was in HS my mother had uterine fibroid tumors and had to undergo a full hysterectomy. We'll be praying for you...

Thanks for the ping, jigsaw.
I'm very sorry for your troubles, dear one.
Your fear is a natural human response.
Prayer warriors, we have some praying to do!
Dear Lord, we come to you again as we have so often asking your help.
As you know, heavenly Father, this lovely lady has a mass on her ovary.
We ask your guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for her, dear Lord, and we ask that the mass be benign.
Please heal our sister, dear Lord. We believe in your power as she does.
We ask in Jesus name, Amen.

I'll pray for you giznort.

Lord God,
We know You as Creator, as Provider, as Healer, as Redeemer and Savior.
We ask that You would heal this woman. Make her whole and well, please. We ask that You would surround her with Your Presence and Your Virtue. Shower her in Your love, and restore her to health.
In the Name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.

that I either had ovarian cancer on my left ovary or what they call a 'chocolate tumor', which looks the same as ovarian cancer on the sonogram. My mom had that, only her doctor called it a chocolate cyst. She did fine, no hysterectomy until long later after she had had 3 kids. I'm praying that giznort's doctor will have great skill and she comes through this great.

Thanks for the ping Cowboy ....
From the following website I found this info:
go here
Noncancerous (benign) ovarian masses include abscesses or infections, fibroids, cysts, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis-related masses, ectopic pregnancies, and others.
Of masses found in women who are still menstruating (have not been through menopause), about 20% are cancerous
So that means 80% of masses found are NOT cancerous....... I hope that eases your mind at least a little.

((((((giznort))))))))
I lost both my ovaries to benign cysts. There is NO WAY a doctor can know what the mass is until he/she goes in and removes it and then does pathology on it.
Not to say you won't be nervous.. I SURE WAS!!!! I think you'd have to be a ZOMBIE to NOT BE. (It doesn't mean we don't believe either.. but believing can sure take some of the edge off!!) :o)
Just saying that in all likelihood, yours will be benign too.
((((((giznort))))))
I truly do know what you are going through.
In fact, I was barely out of surgery when I popped up on my stretcher asking if everything was ok.
I'm not normally a worrier.. but you can't help it when you face this kind of situation.
Knowing what I know today,.. I'd have given more of the worry over to prayer and let our heavenly Father do what He has said He can and will do for us.
It is therefore my PRAYER that you will find the strength to do just that. I lacked the faith and the strength back then.
God Bless you FRiend,..and PLEASE keep us posted.
