In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
arrogate \AIR-uh-gayt\,verb:
arrogating, arrogates, arrogated; transitive verb
arrogative; adjective
arrogatively; adverb
arrogation, arrogator; noun
1. To claim or seize without right or justification; to appropriate.
2. To ascribe on behalf of another in an unwarranted manner.
3. To assume, or claim as one's own, unduly, proudly, or presumptuously; to make undue claims to, from vanity or baseless pretensions to right or merit
The most sinister dimension of this form of 'terror' was that it became an intrinsic component of Fascist and Nazi governance, executed at the behest of, and in complete subservience to, the ruling political party of the land -- which had arrogated to itself complete, total control of the country and its people.
--Bruce Hoffman, Inside Terrorism
Etymology [Latin arrog re, arrog t- : ad-, ad- + rog re, to ask; see reg- in Indo-European Roots.]

I have been driven to mute that commercial. Everyone in the room says "you gotta stop" at the same time when we lipread the driver at the end.

Did anyone happen to watch Fox News Sunday yesterday morning??
Does anyone else think that Chris Wallace (aka "Son of Mike") should be sent back to whence he came?
He let Joe Loserman get away with some serious propaganda filibustering yesterday, IMHO.

one does wonder about the propriety of taking 19k docs. Even more, because he apparently had them loaded onto CD-ROM.....hmmmmm, isn't that just a little curious.

I'm pretty sure that O'Neill was hired as an ADA token.

Wallace is awful. I can't even stomach his commercials. He's almost as bad as Greg Jarrett(sp?) who sounds like someone impersonating an anchorman. Badly.

The speech impediment? He sounds like he's wearing a retainer and hasn't gotten used to it yet.

Well, I thought that Wallace let some pretty egregious BS go by unchallenged yesterday....
Loserman had the gall to blame ALL of Saddam's atrocities on both Bushes... and completely ignored the 8 years of Clintoonism, failing to mention that Bubba did exactly ZIP during his tenure.
Wallace acted like the usual lefty robot and didn't say jack-squat about it. Not much of a "journalist", IMO.
To: TheGrimReaper
well i can't imagine that fox viewers will sit still for that without protesting, do you? if he continues in that vein, there will be a backlash. i will certainly fire off an email to them.

The speech impediment? No... just the apparent mental retardation.

Does anyone else think that Chris Wallace (aka "Son of Mike") should be sent back to whence he came? I'll second that.

I didn't watch Fox yesterday, but I despise Chris Matthews-I wish Fox had never hired him.

In the last presidential election, Al Gore, a Rat tried to arrogate victory by any and all means. False claims that Blacks had been threatened with lynching or a garrote if they voted were in all the lib newspapers. I tore a rag into pieces after reading some of their drivel. I have heard a rat ogre named Ted Kennedy carp at a Roger Ailes (FOX News) for being slanted. We have watched that cowardly rat age (or) bloat for four decades. Hes got a huge belly and hes got a rear end of Hillaryesque proportions. It takes a rare toga to cover it all. This lunatic seems like a rager to intelligent voters, but he apparently has got a rare gift for bringing home the bacon (and the occasional rare goat when he gets lonely). Perhaps when his car went into the drink, it caused a gear rot in his brain, as well as in his transmission.
To: TheGrimReaper
I don't think he's completely retarded-just borderline intellectual functioning (BIF) having an IQ above 68, but not by much.....
