In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

arrogate \AIR-uh-gayt\,verb:
arrogating, arrogates, arrogated; transitive verb
arrogative; adjective
arrogatively; adverb
arrogation, arrogator; noun

1. To claim or seize without right or justification; to appropriate.
2. To ascribe on behalf of another in an unwarranted manner.
3. To assume, or claim as one's own, unduly, proudly, or presumptuously; to make undue claims to, from vanity or baseless pretensions to right or merit

The most sinister dimension of this form of 'terror' was that it became an intrinsic component of Fascist and Nazi governance, executed at the behest of, and in complete subservience to, the ruling political party of the land -- which had arrogated to itself complete, total control of the country and its people.
--Bruce Hoffman, Inside Terrorism

Etymology [Latin arrog re, arrog t- : ad-, ad- + rog re, to ask; see reg- in Indo-European Roots.]

Hillary the Shrill is by far the most arrogant arrogator that NY has ever sent to the Senate. From Arkansas to the White House to the NY Senate seat she has dragged bill along. We all know she doesn't bake cookies, or make nookie - but what we don't know is where she is headed next. Living History, despite is hoop-la is doomed for the bargain tables, but who did this shrill arrogator make her bargains with? Beware the "Night of the Hildebeast" may yet be a book not written. Will the ghosts of her past come back to haunt her? Will the vast right-wing conspirators come back to taunt her? Will American voters ever want her? What will her next assault for the presidency look like.............

Well, that is a poor pic, it is possible, that if she sat flat in the seat, the tread might come to the anklebone, then again, she is probably a Dressage rider, and they are notorius for setting the stirrups too low....

good grief, it was a photo op. someone had her get up on the horse for the pic. i am sure she knows what she is doing, she looks more comfortable up there than i would be! i still think back to my last experience on horseback in the Smoky Mts. It is very unsettling that horses just sort of move around even when they are standing still...they are definitely animate objects and i didn't care for that sensation!

In dressage, they normally try to have as much of the leg in contact with the horse as possible, for better communication, unlike the jockey position where they crouch on top. But their heels are always down. She strikes me as more of the hunter/jumper type anyway.

The heels being up has far more to do with the posing of the picture, as xs said, than actually getting the horse to move....

Someone displayed sheer genius a few years ago, converting that slogan. We printed up the signs for our cars.
