My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and I...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Memories
My memories of our love
and forgotten desire
embracing me by
turning your smile
until love is a color
and words are like soft lips
on my skin
delicate and deliciously ripe
touching me

I've oft found it hard
To love with just one.
When two are preferred
Life just isn't much fun.
I'm not much for memories
Can't live in the past
Won't sacrifice feelings
Nice guy, finished last.
Yet I think of you often
No desire to let go
I was taught that my choosing
Could never change so.
Am I blue? Yes, too often,
For my love you did spurn
Lift my chin, oh, my sweetheart,
For my fire does still burn.

In love with a memory
would be one in love
not much chance to survive
driven by waning desire
cold nights and empty arms
dreaming of your return
coloured lights, starry nights
shooting stars and wild
trips to Mars
We shot for the stars
fell short somewhere
you went your way
and I mine
to never stop wondering
where our fire would have led
so now you tell me your love is dead
and I am left with an ache
breaking my fire...

Yet I think of you often
No desire to let go So true. :-(

Winters Rage
Its cold, that cold that cuts through clothes like a scalpel to the bone,
leaving that familiar burning of its icy touch, right into your soul.
It slips easy into gloves, drawing what heat was in that delicate zone,
making hands ache with its passing caress, taking its steady toll.
The air is painful to inhale, stealing more breath then it seems to give,
leaving one only too aware of Winter, and its dangerous moods to rue.
The wind swirls nigh, driving its ice splinters in, your clothes seem but a sieve,
and you know a small, silent fear, cold can master you, rule you, kill you.
Dry granular snow stings your skin, like icy gravel on the cruel wind,
forcing tears to flow, and freeze on cheeks numb and burning at the same time.
You challenge not this arctic beast that shatters stones and pray it rescinds,
bowing in humble surrender to its unfeeling and terrible power so prime.
Indoors is survival, and a measure of peace before the storms rage,
sheltering from Winters assault, its icy breath and mortal blow.
Take the time to reflect upon the fact that we are motes upon Gods page,
hiding from the power he uses with such ease, and to fools such woe.

It sits beside my desk
A single sheet of paper
Taped to my file cabinet
Where only I can see it
It's our dream house.
Plans for our life live there
Big living room, three bedrooms
And a walk-out deck from the master.
It has a patio and it has
All the things we love.
"Get ready, the builders will call
all the time," you said.
You left me, but our home remains.
It's in my mind, it's built
And I live in it, alone.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
Your things are there, my love
They're right where you left them
The only light in the house
That's on is the one in the kitchen.
That's where I stand now
Feeding myself and my love for you
I made extra for you, darling
For the day you come home.

You are gonna make me cry.
To: bentfeather
It's only fair, feather. Even though a gentleman never makes a lady cry, I owe you at least one. You started it :)

Man! You just described Chicago area winters! I'm glad I don't have to put up with those anymore.

Sad to say, we've got both those numbers beat by 8 to 10 degrees tonight. Absolutely brutal cold.

Well, some things have come out in me of late. Good to write about them, but a downer for my friends, unfortunately. :)
