~The Dragon Flies' Lair VI ~
December 17,2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Good morning feather.

Thank You all for making The Lair a nice place to write.

Hey, that's what we should be saying to you!

I love this little place you've provided for us.

Oh I am loving the feathers Sam is finding for me.
And the joke was too, funny not to post!
You know I have no fear of flying, none!

Well thank you snippy, but without poets there is no thread.

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
by Robert Lee Frost

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it's queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Morning.
Sorry about my disappearing act yesterday.
Had some spot of 'business' appear.

Good morning to all!

Here's my offering on the first day of winter ...

Waiting

Serene, I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind, nor tide, nor sea;
I rave no more 'gainst time or fate,
For lo! my own shall come to me.

I stay my haste, I make delays,
For what avails this eager pace?
I stand amid the eternal ways,
And what is mine shall know my face.

Asleep, awake, by night or day,
The friends I seek are seeking me;
No wind can drive my bark astray,
Nor change the tide of destiny.

What matter if I stand alone?
I wait with joy the coming years;
My heart shall reap where it hath sown,
And garner up its fruit of tears.

The waters know their own and draw
The brook that springs in yonder height;
So flows the good with equal law
Unto the soul of pure delight.

The stars come nightly to the sky;
The tidal wave unto the sea;
Nor time, nor space, nor deep, nor high,
Can keep my own away from me.

That it does.
And it steamrolls over your intentions and plans relentlessly.
It merely depends on whether or not you're in the cab of the steamroller, or in front of it futily running out of the way.
Life has a way of intruding on the tender moments in life.

I would hope my muse
can give me something
I can use
And not turn on the blues
cause I think I paid my dues
Maybe I wander in the dark
looking at life as a lark
but my heart doth know
this ain't no Broadway Show.

I'm not made for straight lines
I zig and I zag
I don't do no stinkin' rules
oh yes, I'm very bad
a born rebel under
Cancer's sign
a Moon Child born
to live her live in rhyme.
To dance with fairies
in the night and ride
the Dragon Fly in delight
and love the dance of
loving life
and making rhyme
at twilight!

Purloined from the web.

YOU ARE SPECIAL

Your presence is a gift to the world,
You're unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be -
Take it one day at a time

Count your blessings, not your troubles,
And you'll make it through what comes along.
Within you are so many answers,
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don't put limits on yourself,
Your dreams are waiting to be realized.
Don't leave your important decisions to chance -
Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying -
The longer a problem is carried, the heavier it gets.
Don't take things too seriously -
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way -
Remember that a lot goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment,
Life's treasures are people... together.

Have health and hope and happiness,
Take the time to wish on a star.
And don't ever forget for even a day...
How very special YOU are!

Code of the Cow Country

It don't take such a lot o 'laws to keep the rangeland straight.

Nor books to write them in, because there are only six or eight.

The first one is the Welcome sign written deep in Western hearts--

My camp is yours and yours is mine in all cow country parts.

Treat with respect all womankind, same as you would your sister.

Take care of neighbors' strays you find, and don't call cowboys "mister"

Shut the pasture gates when passin' thru and takin' all in all,

Be jest as rough as pleases you but never mean nor small.

Talk straight, shoot straight, an' never break your word to man nor boss.

Plumb always kill a rattlesnake; don't ride a sore-backed hoss.

It don't take law nor pedigree to live the best you can;

These few is all it takes to be a cowboy an'-- a Man!!

Thank you SAM, cute poetry.

"You raise me up" by Josh Groban is beautiful. First I've ever heard it and the Celtic touch the tune has was great.
Good lyrics, good voice, good music.

Long before it was used as a "kiss encourager" during the Christmas season, mistletoe had long been considered to have magic powers by Celtic and Teutonic peoples. It was said to have the ability to heal wounds and increase fertility.

Celts hung mistletoe in their homes in order to bring themselves good luck and ward off evil spirits.
