Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

And insulation? They would like that! Maybe I could just add on a room for them in my next house.

I usually have to put antibiotic cream and a bandage on my heels when my heels start cracking like that. Works like a charm, but you may need to do it over a couple of days. I wear socks all the time in the fall and winter, so that's not a problem. For a few nights, just put lots of udder cream on your feet, then sleep in socks. That'll soften them very well.

Hot cider too?
To: osagebowman
has the added advantage(?) of feeling like Mercurochrome used to, without the orange stain. Remember those days, I do, lol.Oh I remember that stuff. But we knew if Mama was mad at us for what we did to get ourselves hurt if she used Merthiolate! ARGHH, that stuff stung!!

Didn't have any hot cider.... just poured hot water in their grain, which has Molasses in it.

Hello!
I'm so far behind I've just about given up any hope of catching up...just gonna have to jump in and start over, I guess. This past week was the week from hell at work...we're doing a major network switchover and though it's gone pretty well, there's just a LOT to do. I haven't been at my computer there much. And, being the bright young lass I am, I of COURSE picked this time to rebuild my HOME system, too. So...I've been out of commission for quite a bit of the time these past few weeks.
G'nad...hope you're ready to get on the road now! What a time to have a breakdown...you're in my prayers!
Hair and ecurb...still making my way through back pages and looking at the pictures from the wedding, and the horse pictures. Glad to hear the wedding went well - sorry to hear about Bay and the pony being left out and Gidget left in! Especially in yucky weather. I guess these things happen and no harm was done really, but I still feel bad for them!
To anyone and everyone who was in on sending me one of the Hobbit Hole knives - thank you so, so much! It was totally unexpected and I'm VERY happy to have it! I've wanted one for a long time, but what with one thing and the other it just hasn't been in the budget, not for something I didn't really HAVE to have. But I love it...I showed it all around today. Everyone was very impressed with it, and with the story of what we've done in supporting the troops. So it was also a bit of a evangelizing tool. ;-)
Now I have another VERY busy week ahead, which I'm kinda dreading...then the travel to Entmoot, which I'm also dreading. I'll be fine once we're there, but until then I'm terrified that somehow we'll be separated or luggage will get lost or we'll be delayed and miss flights or something. Worrying doesn't make a bit of difference, I know. But Margaret and Bill are incapable of worrying EVER, it seems like...so I guess I'm doing their share, too. Guess that's what big sisters are for...
To: RosieCotton
You will get to Entmoot whether you worry-your-way-there or not!
I don't feel ready yet.... I need to work on packing or at least planning packing tomorrow!

I'm a little nervous, too. I've never travelled alone... my mom's offered to drop me off at the airport and she'll tell me what to do. I'm sure it's easy.
Ugh... I'm having dizzy spells tonight. Wonder why?

Hope all went well with the car. If he gets it fixed tonight, are y'all gonna wait for the morning to leave, or just head on out? Were you going to be camping at Camp Shelby, or are there some sort of guest houses for military families. Several uncles and cousins are Army and National Guard and they train out at Camp Shelby every summer. My aunts used to go out there during WWII to the USO dances; one of them met her future husband there.

Oh, and had another nice thing happen this weekend, besides the knife arriving! Our local used bookstore will sometimes take used books as credit, though the guy that runs it is kinda strange and you never can tell what he'll accept or how he'll value stuff. I've been wanting to get another batch of casual reading type books, but the library really doesn't have most of the authors I like. Soo...Saturday I packed up a bunch of books I was done with plus a few more someone had given me that I didn't want to read and went to the bookstore. He only took a few this time around, but I had some credit leftover from last time, enough to get SEVEN paperbacks. A lot! I was kinda bummed about having so many books to bring home, but then I remembered the new Salvation Army store in town, so I took them there, and picked up two MORE books for a quarter a piece, one of them by the one author I hadn't been able to find at the store. In the end I came home with few books than I set out with, which is good. I have shelf space! And for fifty cents, I got nine books. Pretty good haul!
To: Overtaxed
Heh...I've been practicing that.
I need to be very careful to leave it at home so I can practice some more after Entmoot!
To: JenB
I still don't know how I'm getting home from the airport afterwards. It's a three hour drive or more, so not something I can ask just anyone to do, especially in the winter. And Dad's working.
Sigh.
I have another brother I can ask, and he'd probably do it, but he'd resent it horribly. THAT brother.
To: RosieCotton
Oh, that's brilliant!
My used bookstore closed in September. There are two others around, but they're useless. Never have anything good. This one was huge, it had everything... and they took everything too. But the little town got slated for road construction and it's basically a dead town now. Nobody goes there. So the bookstore closed...

I need to plan to pack, too!
I'm mostly worrying because neither of the other two has traveled before...and because of the way we purchased the tickets (originally on the same flight, but paid for separately), I'm afraid we'll be divided up. Probably worrying needlessly...but the flight plans have changed several times since the tickets were purchased.
So I'm stressin'. I'll be OK once we're there and have a place to call home for a week! I can endure any hardship as long as I'm in one place. ;-) I don't like journeys and adventures!
