The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

How many does your van hold, Corin? I know we're coming in later than WN and Jen...but it would be great if we could come with you! Does it hold seven? We could probably "squish" a bit and hold bags if needed...

7 would max out my van. But I can at least be one of the vehicles.

Heh, I know about baggage!

I was going to try to travel light, but linens? Mmm... and I have to buy a bathing suit!

OOoh..
Some of them are way out of print and yo can expect to pay anywhere from cover price to 80$ depending on where you go, it's condition, where it is in the series, whether or not it's a special issue, or who's selling it.
Comic books are a highly variable area to buy in.
The older ones are harder to find.
Some of them aren't appropriate for 8 year olds.
But not all are like that.
More of a case by case review.

Ok, well saw TTT expanded today, and the additions definitely make this a better movie. I felt some of the additional scenes in FOTR were not as effective, especially after Moria. Those felt a little more "thrown together". (ie incomplete)

There is no way I could make a Trilogy Tuesday. Guess I'm like a dwarf, I'm a good sprinter.;> It was definitely a pleasure to see the films in the theatre again, and looking forward to the finale next week.

I was much more pleased with TTT EE also. Brought together some stuff that just wasn't right! But, I was also pleased with FOTR because it added in parts that I *really* missed!

Viggo the airhead actor
Had a very shiny sword.
But if you know the story,
Of the Rings he’s not the Lord.

All of the DU trolls
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Viggo,
Join in any DU games.

Then one foggy Trilogy eve
Viggo had to say.
“US with your war not right,
I’ll wear a UN shirt tonite.”

Then all the other Hobbits
Just ignored his lunacy.
They knew it was really Aragorn.
Not Viggo that they wanted to see!

All the additional Shire Scenes are fabulous, and I could tell they spent a lot of time on them.

The Boromir scenes add alot to it as well. Especially with what was added in TTT.

The scenes in the woods with the elves after Moria seemed more discontinuous, as if when they were in production they realized were not going to "make it" in the release so they were not completed. Then when they decided to make the extended version, they did their best to add what they had.
