Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Snowing like crazy here.
Say, I meant to tell you. We also grilled that ham. It was a huge fresh ham and here's how I did it...
First, I rubbed it all over with a salt and sage. Then, I put it in the grill, but not over a burner that was on...just off to the side. Then I turned on the other burner, and right on top of the burner, I put a aluminum packet of mesquite chips...small ones. Just folded the aluminum over a couple of handfuls of dry chips, leaving the ends open. I sat it RIGHT DOWN on the lava rock on top of the flame. It took a while, but it eventually started smoking. After it got going, I put in another packet, this time with soaked chips...about half soaked, half dry. Kept doing that periodically throughout the time it cooked which was about 3 hours. Cooked it on a medium to low heat...not over the burner, you understand...off to the side.
It was delicious. The meat fell off the bone. The top got a little crispy. Would a marinade on top prevent that? The bottom, where it sat on the grill, was delicious and juicy.

It's my little sister's birthday, too. A good day for being born.
Sounds like you need some company tonight. Don't just go home and sit. Are you able to... remember the good times about your mom? Or do you still just miss her too much?

A company I used to work for had a mandatory "desk organization policy". Stalinism in the workforce if I ever did see it.

We're gonna play music - not just family, but a big group.
The subject probably won't even come up. It's a bit hard, 'cause I'd like to bring it up, but there's no real way to do it without dragging things down.
I can talk about her more now than I could a year ago, for sure. Still miss her an awful lot, though. The boys have each other and Dad, though of course that isn't quite the same as having Mom there, too. But she was more to me than she was to the boys in a lot of ways, I think. Just the way it is, being a daughter - and the oldest to boot.
But this group has helped a lot, honestly. And it WILL get easier. But special days are still hard.

Snowing like crazy here.Weatherman is predicting close to a foot of snow here Tuesday night into Wednesday. I'm REALLY hoping work will be cancelled Wednesday morning if it's particularly bad.
To top it all off, I'm sick. Helped by brother move yesterday, and too much in and out of the cold caused me to wake up sneezing and stuffy.

Maybe it's just coincidence, but seems like MOST IT related people can't keep a desk neat to save their lives...I'm better than some, but I still have a tendency to accumulate papers and post-its and such.

LMAO...I knew you'd catch that!
It's one of Autumn's favorite songs, and I'll admit I like it too.

Loved these reports. On the first, I would think maybe the guy had never been shot in the head before (I just reckon), but he'd met the business end of a pocket knife before? Weird, yeah.

Of course it's tough! I don't want to think what it would be like, losing a parent. My mom and I don't always understand each other, but I'm glad she's part of my life. Your mom made you who you are in a lot of ways, and you love her, so it's right that you miss her. But I'll bet she'd rather you went and played music than sat around and were miserable.

Headin' home now...brrrrrrr!
I'll check in before music. I'm hoping to quickly make some cookies for music night TOMORROW...actually kind of thinking of skipping tonight, which I probably shouldn't do, but Tuesdays are more fun a lot of the time due to the smaller group.
And I don't have to drive...just clean up the house.
To: RosieCotton
No, it wasn't, but I know what you mean. The web design company I worked for was notorious for having the messiest desks...lol
No, these people went so far as to have a little diagram drawn up, which was supposed to be the benchmark for what all the desks should look like.
I actually was written up for "non-compliance" of this policy.
This was also the same company that tried to establish a "bathroom-break" schedule, to maximize employee effectiveness. I only lasted 4 months there before I got so fed up that I quit.
