AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 1052) [Remember The Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 8, 2003 | All of Us

Posted on 12/08/2003 4:19:09 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!!

Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The United States, Canada, the European Union, and Japan all worked to force rejection of UN control of the Internet.

The Secret Service intends to interview Eminem after his "President Dead" rap.

And an investigation has been launched into several animal deaths that have occurred at the National Zoo of late - 23 over the last 6 years. Part of the reason for the investigation centers around allegations of incomplete or falsified record keeping regarding the care of the animals by vets.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

It is great to find some time to be here.

We were living for the past 2 years in Virginia Beach. I do miss it, but Sugar Land is a wonderful city.

yes, that is right VB.... that is why we were all so worried about you when we heard nothing

zip

zero

from you after the hurricane came through!

Sugarland is nice.. but I like the Atlantic Ocean much better than the Gulf .. esp in the galveston area where instead of seashells you have oil goop & oil balls!

My beach was mategorda.. a bit west & very rugged..More of a fishing beach. NOt many people & lots on it as it is not a pristine, swept & cleaned beach that you take the kiddies to.

Good luck adjusting to all the new things there.

Oh boy, oh boy!! The paper is full of interesting things this a.m.

For one, there's a feature about the "Ohio Military Museum" down in Massillon....area veterans' personal war mementos on rotating display...

For another, the Air Force Museum down in Dayton will debut a display of the Stealth bomber on Dec. 16. The Pitcher household will want to visit that on our way back from Indiana later in the month!!

The bathtub reglazer has arrived and has set up a duct to vent the fumes out of the house! Hurray!!

Leaving soon for rehearsal...back later.

Everyone be safe and as healthy as possible...

A 'BIG OLE BEAR HUG TO KASSIE' A.M. FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA!!!!

OK, I just called 911 and took kassie off the most wanted list and they could call off the nation-wide search. Welcome back PawPaw, you have been missed.

Is Newt trying to sell a book or something? I could not believe it what he said about the president and the administration, I guess he is going to start this junk so he can get some notice.

It is in the 40's here now but is going to get up to 70 a little later on which means work to be done on the farm. Being old Clo-tee is down, oil problems, I had to get it cut this weekend and I sure miss working my old tractor.

I have got to get going so I will be checking in a little later so all you wonderful people be nice and if you see a older person, give them a smile and a 'Hi'. Toby

You didn't bring it up, but seeing your excellent JFK quotation brings to mind this from his inaugural address: "ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." It was in a song I heard yesterday. I cringe every time I hear it.

Out of context, it becomes trite, and it is used so stupidly. I only feel better about it when I re-read the speech, and a great speech it was (here)

Selfishness is the American fertilizer. Americans always ask what they can do for themselves -- that's the very fount of individualism. JFK sacrificed -- he lost a brother to war, and nearly his own life during the same. His very good fortune by birth came of his father's insanely successful selfishness, one was often brutal, and said to have been illegal (which is NOT a trait of individualism). That same selfishness becomes service when defense of the liberty of the individual is called upon.

While service and sacrifice are as American as individualism, they are in defense of it. So here it is: it is the notion of "collectiveness" that troubles me so much in this use of "ask not what your country..." 'Tis the opposite of liberty, and it is used by those who hate liberty, who loathe individualism.

P.S. Whenever you hear that JFK sound bite, add to it the lines that JFK followed it with:

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

As opposed to the "other party," who's mantra seems to be: "Ask not what you can do for America, ask what you can do for the party."

kassie ~~~ what a delight to hear from you!

..... I'd like to take the liberty of bringing your post from the other thread over here for all to read.

Good morning.

Just stopping by briefly to say hi and hope everyone is doing ok.

We are living in Sugar Land, TX. Hubby has been here since March. It's taking some getting used to having him home in the evenings for meals.

Son missed a lot of studies while we were hiding out from Isabel and then moving on to TX. So my days are busy catching him up, unpacking, getting ready for the holidays and company.

My mom will winter with us, so we are getting a room set up for her. Our oldest daughter will bring her down and stay for a week with her 4 children.

NeeNee's family moved down here 2 weeks after I got here. :)

Hope you all are ok! OH my, we have spell check ! ! !

Your book was forwarded to me here in Texas. My husband is reading it also. We've had little time to read in the past few weeks. But I must say what we've read, is very interesting. Looking forward to getting more into it and reporting back to you.

Here's another account of the President's Thanksgiving visit to Iraq by an eye-witness .....

She was there. Report from Iraq

..... It's a really good read .... :-)

Granny ~~~ If I don't get back until late tonight (a distinct possibility), I hope the weather cooperates for you and your trip isn't a total nightmare. We'll miss you. I don't suppose you'll be able to FReep any while you're gone?

Hey, everybody. I need some help. Does anybody know who "did" this picture?

One of the Bush web sites is doing a Bush calendar and wants to use it.

Let me know if you can remember!

Thanks for the good wishes, kay. I'm watching the weather closely. I may or may not leave tonite to avoid the worst of it. Whatever I do will be the wrong thing,,, Murphy, you know.

No FReeping while I'm gone. Townhall.Com used to supply a bank of computers for us to check our emails at these meetings, but in recent years they haven't. I'm guessing so many travel with laptops they feel it is unnecessary nowdays. I cannot lung a laptop thru airports and survive to tell about it. It's just too much weight for my shoulder to bear.

I will return late Sunday night, if the weather cooperates. Otherwise, it will be Monday sometime.

Animals!!!

I am being thwarted this morning by a young stray cat we have been taking care of for a few days. He is on the roof, after climbing one of the posts of the pergola outside the back door. He is sitting up there crying!...loudly!...for 3 hours!

I've been up on the step ladder to try to catch him, but he dances just out of my reach. He has an appointment at the vets office on Thursday to "get snipped". Maybe I should have him cut his throat instead of his ****! :-)

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm listening.

I would suggest a shotgun, but some might not find that very funny. 8>)

Morning all. I am going to work on my resume today. Unfortunately, my financial situation requires me to go back to being a unix sys admin for a while to get caught up. I'm hoping to find a contract job that I can work for a few months and still leave me free to work at least one of my kitchen jobs. Prayers for a short job search, and financial liquidity would be appreciated.

/john

Try putting some food at the base of the pergola. Maybe he will be tempted to climb down.
