In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....
osculate \ohs*cue*late\, verb:
osculated, osculates, osculating; transitive, intransitive verb
osculation; noun
deosculate, deosculation; (fondly)
exosculate, exosculation; (vigorously)
1. To kiss..
2. Mathematics: To have three or more points coincident with.
3. To come together; contact.
A Plain Old Kiss
Some people need a peck or two;
For others a simple smooch will do;
Too many, a graze will stimulate;
A few may want to osculate.
And then, there are those who need a smack,
For flowery words they have a knack.
But all I want from you is bliss,
Which you can give me with a plain, old kiss!
- Arr. Ara John Movsesian Etymology [Latin scul r , scul t-, from sculum, kiss, diminutive of s, mouth. See s- in Indo-European Roots.]

I remember some of my dad's' stories from when I was a kid - especially around the 4th - sometimes they were actually able to lock up the idiots before they hurt themselves or any one else.

OMG, you'd be killed for sure! anyone looking for extra cash, should look into merchandising things for DOGS or doing some sort of business for KIDS. i paid alot of $ for people to dress up and come and entertain the kids at my kids bday parties. for someone who sews, and could whip up some costumes, and is good with kids, reading stories and playing games in character, it would be a good mine. i paid $175 for an hour for Madeline, Barbie, etc. over a number of years. i would suggest something like that for someone looking to make $ in an area with a lot of people with small children, like NO.VA.
also, people will spare no expense for DOGS! for my daughter's prep school bake sale, i made the homemade dog biscuits that Texan5 gave me the recipe for,and they were a huge hit.i just made one batch and made three little nicely decorated bags and they sold immediately and people kept coming in the rest of the day to ask for them. i will def make a ton of those next year. there are at least a handful of DOG bakeries in my area, where they have pastry cases full of dog items. Don't drive a cab, go into business of some sort. that is where the $ is.

As I said to hubby - I'm excited but also a bit nervous - it's been awhile since I've done any interviewing of anyone other than politicians!!!

Unfortunately, if the cops tried that these days, they'd be stalked and harassed by Sharpton and all the other leftist nitwits.
My grandfather used to tell me some great stories from his day, but if he were a cop now, he'd be up on brutality charges every other week. Sadly, what he and his fellow cops did was remarkably effective. Never had to beat the crap out of the same longshoremen twice. ;)

Good! I only said that because, especially when I was younger, he used to blame me for things that went wrong, regardless of whether or not I was actually at fault!
Like the time he gave me his car (after he got a new one) and since I didn't have a garage spot and had to park it outside in a rather brutally cold winter, it wasn't my fault that it crapped out and wouldn't start in the mornings. But I got blamed for "doing something wrong" until he took it to the repair shop and there was something very wrong that had nothing to do with me. :)
And then there was the time he assumed that the major car crash which nearly killed me was my fault -- until a witness to it also happened to be in the ER at the same time and spoke up to let us know that he saw the whole thing and there was nothing I could have done to avoid it.

Good ideas, thanks! :)
I tell you, the dog walkers here are ALWAYS busy! That's because people live here in these small apartments and are never home to walk their dogs. For the longest time, I thought that this one guy lives across the hall from me, but it turns out he's the dog walker! I even saw him with my 2 new friends on a Saturday night recently!
But I should *finally* finish my personal training certification soon... Now *that* (fitness) is a *hugh* thing in this image-obsessed city.

Well, I got a fur coat a long time ago and don't need another. A purse is a possibility. As for clothes, as soon as I flatten my stomach, he's treating me to a pair of black leather pants and a black leather miniskirt. Jewelry? Definite possibilities...

All true! The things they used to do when they got off duty and were back in street clothes... He was a real tough guy. Unfortunately, he died before he could give me his revolver with the pearl-handle. He always said he was going to give it to me for my 18th birthday. But he died shortly after my 17th, and my dad turned it back in to the NYPD, since my grandfather wasn't even really supposed to have had it that long anyway...

I remember you telling me about the revolver. It's a shame your dad didn't just hold on to it a little longer.......
