Doing twos with you
beats doing fours
on the floor!

nothing worse
than an ouzo
encore

Ah, poets are given
to perverse
verse
when wine flows
and ouzo goes
so smoothly
into the night

quaff the cups
of muse and melody
sing of some lost love
or derring-do
let romance reign
in the wane
of day
speak yet again
some glad refrain
and laugh

In the North
we have no ouzo
we have burdock
by the barrel
wine in casks
along the lakes
give giggles
or the shakes

Convention night
delight poets
jotting ditties
a chill in the air
fall in creeping in
what happened to summer

Back to grapes, squeezed
or stomped my how poets
like to romp!

green water
on gray shale
th sea exhales
it's delight
in warm joining

I run
rebuff
refuse
to care
too much.
Too late!
I love
in spite
of fear.

Ah romance
I'll take a chance
for a squeeze and dance
with stars in my eyes
for I care about you
and what happens to you
you are my sun, my moon
my joy, my tears,and I
am so glad for romance
yes, I'll take a chance

the bees are in the trash
again
and I have yet to flee
stale
stagnant
summer
airs
strange meiosis
soul from soul
take note
the bees are in the cans

Red oak
strange community
of woodpecker
squirrel and
ant.
I returned
to find I now
have a bee tree.

bees in cans
are beacons
harbingers
of a decaying summer
and hope of
a sweet spring

how strange
to find
such life
'midst the
cast offs,
dulcet
decay
of time

I note the congruence
of bees and cans
and sweet cycles
of time
outside
the ordinary
observation
of a life as it is lived.

she left portugal
lingering on the verge
of despair
and the angst
of the atlantic
in gray-shrouded
mourning

i remember
the sea as sand
and found the waves
that time forgot
relentless in advance
and restless in apparent
stillness that crested
the horizon and
framed in purple
the new day.
